I have six chickens and for years I was the one running out at dawn and dusk to open and close the coop. When we planned a week-long trip to visit family I started looking for an automatic door that would actually work reliably while we were gone. Set it up on a Saturday afternoon. The wifi connection took a couple tries because my coop is at the edge of my router range, but once it linked the app was pretty straightforward. I started with the sunrise and sunset mode and watched it for a few days before we left. Every single morning it opened right on schedule and closed after dark. The notifications on my phone were helpful, I could see exactly when the door moved without walking outside. We did our trip and I checked the app probably twice a day out of habit. Door opened, door closed, no issues. The solar panel kept the battery topped off even though we had some cloudy days. One thing I noticed is the panel cable is long which is nice, but you do have to figure out how to route it neatly or it looks a little messy. Not a big deal, just took some zip ties. Back home now and it has been running about two months. The aluminum frame feels solid and I have not had any problems with raccoons or other critters getting in. The anti-pinch feature triggered once when one of my slower hens was still in the doorway and it just reversed, no harm done. Really happy I finally got something that just works. ... show more

Used this to replace run chicken brand door and it’s been way better. Door is same size as run chicken and built and works with similar quality but this connects to WiFi and the app and programming experience are 1000% better and can be done from anywhere rather than having to be near the unit like you do with run chicken. It also has physical buttons to operate which is the main reason I returned my new run chicken and replaced with this since the new run chicken door that I got doesn’t have a physical button meaning you have to use the app to manually open or close which is a deal breaker since I sometimes need kids or neighbors to operate the door. The only downside to being on WiFi is that the battery does drain faster so it needs to be connected to the included solar panel or usb power where as run chicken works for a long time off two AA batteries. But I was surprised how quickly the battery was getting charged with solar so it doesn’t seem like it will be an issue. This is just my first week with the door but if my experience continues to be the same as it’s been then I’ll be very happy with it. ... show more

We’ve been using this a few nights now and it has been so helpful! It has been a hassle to lock up our chickens each night and then to go let them out in the mornings. Not from laziness, but with such a busy life with 4 little kids and my husband working long shifts at a hospital, this has been a huge help. It’s now something I don’t have to worry about. I love that it is solar powdered and my husband said the install was simple. Our chickens learned to go in by 8:30 at night when it gets dark so we have it set to close at 9 and open at 6 in the morning and it works perfect!
