For a long time, I believed that battery chargers were infallible. Mine ultimately burned out after twenty years of use. I was about to get the identical type until it was discovered that there were manual and automated chargers, each with their own set of benefits and downsides. Because the automatic charger could not detect a completely drained battery, it concluded that the battery had reached the end of its useful life. A manual charge just recognizes the presence of a battery and attempts to charge it. It has the ability to revive a dead battery under certain circumstances. A manual charger, on the other hand, cannot tell when a battery is fully charged and can damage a battery if left on for too long. So, what's a person to do? Should a common user have two chargers because a battery is rarely exhausted to the point where it won't charge with an automatic charger? No, the AutoGen comes to the rescue. Both manual and automatic modes are available. It prevented me from having to buy a new battery in my case. Our truck battery was so dead after being gone for several months that nothing worked. I have a confession to make, I am a Gadget Guy. I love gadgets and gizmos. My wife thinks I need professional help. I explained that I only need help in using ( and storing) all my great gadgets. I have owned over a dozen different jump starter/battery power bank type products. I still have my HUGE AGM battery backup that I use at our off grid hunting camp and another Lithium powered one that is designed for my CPAP machine. But I wanted something to carry in the Jeep that was small enough to carry around and still powerful enough to jump start (2400A Peak) all the dead batteries that we find in the woods with the vehicles that do not get regular use. I chose this one because it showed a larger reserve power (30000mAh) than the others in this class and it had two USB Quick Charge 3.0 ports and a REAL cigarette lighter socket. I have tried several others and in order to use all your 12V accessories, you needed to carry an adapter that limited them to 6 amps. This one can run a true 10 amps. I can go on and on about how it does all the things you would expect it to do, and IT DOES, but what won me over was what happened when I got my unit and the cigarette lighter socket DID NOT work. I am an experienced Amazon Prime shopper and almost immediately sent it back to Amazon. Instead I reached out to AUTOGEN to see if there was something I was not doing correctly. Their response was immediate and after a few emails to verify the issues I had described they sent me another one. NOT from China, but by Amazon and in a few days, I was up and running again with the great product I expected. I know that a lot of Chinese companies get a bad rap when it comes to customer service, and a lot of it may be well deserved. But the true measure of a company is not when things are great but when something goes wrong. AUTOGEN was very responsive and went above and beyond my expectations to insure I got the product I wanted and in a timely manner. I would not only buy from them again, but will recommend them to anyone who will listen. AUTOGEN not only makes a great product but they back it up up and take care of their customers. There are not enough companies out there that I can say the same about. UPDATE: 5/22/2019 I love this product. I purchased the Autogen 3000A June '21. It is now May '22. Feel I've used the product enough to give an honest review. It's a beast. Used it several times on various V8's, 6Cyl, 4Cyl & my '97 7.3L Power Stroke. This thing cranks over like the vehicle has a new battery. I'm not one to rant & rave when a product does what It's suppose to do. It just works. Used it today on a '94 Explorer 4.0L with 250,000 miles & a completely shot battery. This thing cranked it over like it was nothing. The booster was charged last November & it's been in the trunk of my car till today. Fully chargered, worked perfectly fine. Tips- small engines & batteries just too low to start, use as is. Bigger engines & completely dead batteries, use the boost button. Very nice case with a little extra room for some tools etc. I didn't read any reviews so don't know if this product has any faults. Mine works great. Hope this helps. Great alternative to the higher priced name brands. Side note. For totally drained batteries, hook the booster up to the battery. It might not turn on or make the little clicky sound. Leave it hooked up to the battery for a few minutes. If it doesn't turn on, Disconnect then reconnect one or more times. I think maybe it gives the battery a slight charge so the charger can recognize that it's hooked up correctly. If the battery is totally dead the charger can't determine if the connection is correct. ... show more

I ordered a second one as a gift it came missing the rubber cover where the jump start connectors plug in. ( First picture) The first one I ordered had this is how I’m sure it’s missing.
