  • Best basic scan tool for the money
Easy to use. Gives you almost all the codes you need to retract with out spending alot of money. I like the I/M readiness button

  • Nice basic scan tool
I bought this for someone else with limited skills to be able to pull their own check engine codes. This tool seems to cover the basics pretty well and the UI and color screen are nice. I tested this out and it works great for pulling codes, erasing, live stream data, and IM readiness. I went to the Autel website and registered so the tool can be updated. The only complaint I had is the site could be easier to use and navigate. This is a well built tool that feels solid in your hand, I expect his will hold up well in hot environments since there is no built in battery. The storage case and documentation is very nice. If you need a basic scanner this is a good choice. ... show more

  • Best scanner for the value
This device potentially saved me $100's if not $1000's of dollars. I have a Nissan Maxima 2001, 20th Anniversary edition and it is due for Smog Test in California in a Star-Certified Smog Station (they have stricter rules and criteria and my car needs this by DMV because it is now 18 years old. I was getting codes P043(Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold in Bank 2), P042()(Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1), and P135(Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank1 Sensor1)). I was able to easily read these codes with their definitions on this device and then looked online to find solutions to fix these problems. Obviously, this device won't fix the underlying problem behind a check engine light and you need to figure out and do your homework on youtube and google. For me, I figured the easiest solution to try would be a catalytic cleaner like "Cataclean" and "CRC guaranteed to pass" Catalytic Converter Cleaners to clean the fuel and EVAP as well as the Catalytic Converter and O2 sensors with low cost and it worked. The hardest part for me was to set the CAT monitor but one thing I found was pressing the gas pedal to 3,000 rpm steady when the car is parked and in idle for at least 2 minutes to set the CAT monitor. Those cleaning products clean your catalytic converter and sensors and definitely a low-cost plan A when you get check engine light and you are not ready to pass the Emission Test. This device also helped me reset the Check Engine Light until I didn't get any error codes stored in the car's computer and all monitors were set and ready and the green light turned on when you press I/M readiness to test whether you are ready for the State Emission Test. Sure, enough it passed with flying colors once this nifty device confirmed the car was ready and all monitors were set for the emission test. I ended up spending about $110 total for this scanner and 2 bottles of Cataclean and 1 bottle of CRC catalytic cleaner which is chip change considering that labor (~$110/hour here in Walnut Creek) alone for the replacement of one O2 sensor would cost more. I highly recommend this device. ... show more

  • Great for getting ready for smog check
Bought this OBDII scanner after trying an inexpensive $20 scanner that was useless. This unit feels professional and gives much more information. Solid construction, heavy duty cable. Includes USB cable for software updates. Replaced parts in the car, cleared codes, and drove about 30 minutes to allow car's computer to capture enough data. Just press I/M button to see readiness for smog check. Green check mark means ready for smog test. Very nice, clear color display. ... show more

  • Mechanics must have!
This scanner is super easy to use if your a beginner and great if your more experienced. I buy fix and sell cars often and this scanner is great for finding codes that people are trying to hide. Also great to pin point the CEL on my truck. It even told me my O2 sensors werent working properly.

  • Not worth the money
This will NOT work on all OBD2 vehicles! I have a 97 ram 2500 and after a lot of talking to autel they tried to say the truck is not OBD2 . Do Not buy this junk!
