I've bought a lot of cheap obd2 scanners to look up how my cars are doing, and once I got the Autel MaxiLink ML629 I was blown away by how many things it could do. Now I don't have to use different obd2 scanners to get the different things, which is awesome, considering it was only 126 USD at the time I bought it. love it Edit1: 1 month later, and this is one hell of a product, it’s fast, reliable, and working perfectly, although I had some issues with my 2011 Hyundai Sonata, a simple update made that trick, the update process is straight forward you plug it, download their software after it detects it, just click update all, and there you have it; refer to your owner’s manual for the update instructions. Edit2: 11 months later, this thing is still fast as new, managed to fix a car that was mostly destroyed 2014 Toyota Camry, 2011 Chevy Suburban, 2008 Chevy Lumina, 2011 Hyundai Sonata, 2003 Toyota Corolla, 2014 Ford Mustang, 2007 BMW M3, 2016 Hyundai Elentra, all using the Autel MaxiLink ML629, very reliable, fast, easy-to-use and updatable. A solid choice for small starting workshops or personal use, worth every penny, keeping my 5 stars Edit3: 20 months later, although it has been a long time since a bought it, few updates and it's as good as new, I haven't been using it lately as much as before but when I do, it never lets me down, but sometimes, it doesn't happen as often as it may sound, but sometimes it won't detect a car module, ex; I've used it on a 2005 Ford Freestar, the device have detected the VIN number and everything flawlessly, but couldn't read any SRS and Transmission codes, just keep that in mind when buying it, apart from that, it is amazing and worth the price. Still, my opinion hasn't changed, it's a solid choice for small starting workshops or personal use, and I'm keeping my 5-star review!

There are few things in this world that are more annoying than when the check engine light pops up on the dashboard of your car. Not only is your engine running into problems, but you don’t even know what problems it’s running into. Not everyone will need an airbag and ABS code scanner, but for those who do, more features do not always mean better value. Airbag code scanners save you the trip to the mechanic every time the airbag lights malfunction. The right scanner will allow you to diagnose, clear, and reset all your vehicle’s systems, effectively extending their longevity. It’s designed to quickly find the reason for a check engine light in any car made from 1996 to the present. In addition to this, it’s also capable of quickly reading and erasing unnecessary ABS and SRS codes. You just need to understand how exactly that information should be processed. All in all, whether you’re trying to work on your vehicle by yourself, or whether you’re a professional, this is a terrific OBD2 car scanner to have on hand. It measures enough vehicle metrics to be used by professional mechanics and is user-friendly enough to be used by novices. You just want to make sure that it will work with your vehicle before you go laying any money down.

First, I am not a mechanic, but looking to save some money by doing some repairs myself. I used this product to diagnose a check engine light to get my car to pass a smog check. I was able to determine the codes that were illuminating the light with the Autel and with some internet searches, was able to fix the error. Subsequently, I used the product to diagnose several other issues that the car had with the help of this OBD. Information is the key to diagnosing issues and this tool gets me that information easily. I would have given this five stars except that there are aspects of the information that the scanner provides, for example, live data and freeze frame data, that I don't really understand. I'm sure a mechanic totally does, but not me. I would have liked to have a bit more support in interpreting such data. Autel does have a website but basically, all I could find was a pdf of the instructions on how to operate the device. I was able to go onto forums for my particular car and give the "gurus" the Autel data, and that was very helpful. In all though, the OBD certainly was useful and I was able to save lots of $ by doing the jobs myself and perhaps as important, learned a lot about my vehicle which is very satisfying.

I was having issues getting some check engine and abs codes read for my wife's honda crv. I tried a few different readers and could not get them to read the codes correctly. I was told I would have to take it to the dealer to get it checked out. I had heard of autel from a few different youtube people and decided to look into it. The ML629 says it will read check engine, abs, air bag, and transmission codes and i can tell you that it worked perfect for my wife's honda. Was able to diagnose the issue with the car and was able to fix it myself. So far I've scanned a volkswagen, some toyotas, and the honda. All worked great and the scanner itself tells you exactly what to look at. It also can be upgraded over the internet to support more cars and can be connected to the computer to review saved codes and diagnostic graphs. This really is a pro level tool for the diy garage types. Such a great value!

So I kept getting the very annoying check engine light. I was getting tired of driving the vehicle to my local parts store to borrow their scanner. I finally decided to buy my own scanner. I went with the Autel MaxiLink ML629 2022 Newest OBD2 Scanner from recommendation of a buddy of mine. I couldn’t be more satisfied with the unit. Very easy to use. Just hook it up in the port, input information and scan. Told me the exact issue I was having with the vehicle to determine if could do it myself or take it in for repair. I’ve used it on family members cars and helped them out with their issues. Saved them a lot of money. Wish I could say the say for myself. All in all, it’s a great scanner and a great price for anyone looking for one.

I had high-hopes for this scanner, but alas - it's just more chinese crap. It is advertised as the "latest-greatest" model, which to me, means it should be compatible with most all (American at least) vehicles, through 2024 model year. But no such luck... Scanner was returned. I purchased it primarily to scan for an ABS problem on a 2020 Jeep Gladoator. Upon arrival, I carefully un-packaged it, and plugged it in to the OBD port on the Jeep. I selected the appropriate function, and it took me to a "vehicle model" screen. Only Ford, GM, and Chrysler were displayed as options. I selected Chrysler (since Jeep is wholly-owned by FCA/Chrysler). But the unit still ould not identify my vehicle. It didn't even list "Jeep" as a vehicle model/type/brand! I then attempted to "manually" select the vehicle/model info, but the scanner's "database" only went up to model year 2017... and even then, it still didn't show Jeep as a brand/model! WTF? I then went online (to the Autel website) to perhaps "update" the scanner. I attempted to create an account, but the website really doesn't work. Once I created my 'login", the site wouldn't accept my login info... I tried repeatedly, with no success. And there's no way to access the update files without logging-in. Very poor. Anyway, I carefully re-packaged the scanner into its box... and back to Amazon it goes! What a waste of time...

What I like with this scanner is the price and the fact that you can save a lot of money doing your pre-scan before going to the dealership or mechanic and end up getting charged a lot of money. I used it on my daughter's Acura TSX (not fully accelerating) it detected a misfire on one the #2 cylinder and and I ended up replacing the spark plug and the ignition coil just to make sure. The car has worked well since. Thanks to this scanner I save a lot of money. I know there is a lot of OBD2 scanner out there but they cost a lot. For simple diagnostic purposes on cars and for its price I think this is a very good and accurate scanner.

I needed to buy an OBD2 scanner and chose this one after some research. All at once, my car had the SRS light on, my wife's check engine light on and my son's SRS light on. An Acura, Honda and Nissan. This unit was able to accurately diagnose the issues with all 3 cars and, more importantly for me, save me $100's in repair bills. This is the first OBD2 scanner I've ever used. When I got it, I followed the included instructions to register the unit, make an Autel account, install the MaxiLink software on a PC and download and install all updates to the unit without any issues. I do admit that I had to read through the manual in order to operate the unit and get the diagnostic information I needed. With the manual and YouTube, I have since learned this unit does a lot more than read and erase codes. It's a fantastic diagnostic tool, especially the live data viewing. I've had this unit for a few months now and I've been using it to accurately diagnose friends, family and coworkers' vehicles. Total vehicle diagnostic and repair bill savings, provided by this unit, is now in the $1000's. Great product, service and support. I'm so glad I purchased this unit.
