I gave this tool an entire year of use before this review. I'm a master mechanic running a used car reconditioning team for Toyota so I work on every kinda of at a dealership level of expertise but not just on one manufacture. I have pushed this tool to it's limits of what it can and can't do. I would say for most people they will never use this tool to it's full potential. I've done coding on Toyota to make the windows roll down with the use of the key fob to programming new VIN numbers on used ECU so the networks inside the car will talk nicely to each other. Auto write ID's to TMPS computers snagged directly from the tool. Does somethings faster than the Toyota factory tool. Haven't been able to perform certain SCN coding from Mercede. Failed to perform smart key access on a Dodge Challenger but did add the immobilizer and Keyless side just fine. Some screams are scream for screen compared factory tool. Some rough translations and have noticed it will skip certain steps I've come across and if your don't know what to do you could get stuck. Can get a bit laggy. Some cars work faster than others. Does work without current software subscription. speaking of the subscription, my first year of renewing will cost me $800. Sometimes functions are not where your would expect them to be and have to hunt for then. 1 menu may say it may not be able to do a certain task and going through a different Sub menu you will be able to perform that task. Would buy this tool again.

I have used several products manufactured by Autel over the years and have yet to be disappointed. This is no exception. The Autel IM508 pro is a powerful and versatile automotive key programming tool! It combines diagnostic features and more than 20 useful maintenance service functions, this integration (diagnostic and key programming) makes it a valuable tool to have for any locksmith, technician, or anyone that needs to program vehicle keys. Combining the IM508 with the XP400 pro gives you an even better value. (It's almost like getting the IM608 for have the price.) Out of the box it comes with 2 years of updates included, after that the updates are running about $350 a year. The tool will not become useless if you don't do the update it just will not have the most up to date information and will not be able to program the newer model year, but compared to the competitors the yearly renewal cost is extremely reasonable (I highly recommend keeping the tool up to date). I have pictured everything you get in the box and a few pictures of the immo screens. The construction of the tablet will allow for years of hard use and the case the tool comes in can take a beating too. If you want to add to your arsenal of quality tools or only have the budget to get only one then this is the one I would get.

As a retired ASE Master tech, I still enjoy & maintain my personal vehicles. It cannot be CORRECTLY done without a proper scan tool. The Autel IM508S by far is the BEST one I've ever owned, and I've had several other name brands. Quality, ease of use & support. Definitely worth the price.

Edited to say this is a true 2025 product just not for all vehicles; I own a 2018 Q5 and was trying to clone a BCM 2 but I was not seeing the chip type for that module in the software it can clone from 2012 to 2017 but nothing from 2018 to 2025. After speaking with the company they confirmed that my car manufacturer had upgraded the immobilizer system for the Audi Q5 vehicle models since 2017 hence why this device could not work with my vehicle. All in all this product as worked with other vehicles I have access to and been of great help in my profession so I am keeping it and adding 3 more stars.

I am a shadetree mechanic and I work I/T for a living. I had a "blue driver" scanner that did a lot for the money, but when the dealer wanted several hundred dollars to diagnose and repair my boyfriend's airbag light on his Scion xD, I bit the bullet and bought this Autel. I definitely can't justify the price of a SnapOn or any other scantool for the small amount of work I perform, but this Autel was just the right price and does everything I ask it to. I've relearned airbag sensors on Toyotas, programmed keyless entry on subarus, reset transmission wear values, programmed TPMS for my room mate's Sonic and way more... It paid for itself in less than a month after purchase. I also see folks like South Main Auto, Scotty Kilmer etc using this scanner, so I know it's great.
