  • High quality Level 2 home EV charger, great price, just get it!
Size: 50 Amp Hardwired Color: Dark Gray
Very nicely designed product, easy to mount if you have the electrical set up and a panel capable of supporting. I hired my electrician to set up a dedicated line for this and hardwired the 50 amp model, which was the cleanest and safest set up. We have it mounted outside on the side of the house, and it stands up to the elements fine (search You Tube for product review videos on this). I bought the model with the charging adapter integrated with the panel so it’s a little cleaner in terms of mounting. There was also an Amazon coupon deal on it which knocked off a nearly 200 bucks from the price. It was half the price of a Chargepoint charger and much less than the popular Juicebox also. Once set up, it’s super simple to use, plugs right into your EV and works like a charm. To customize and configure, it took only a few minutes to connect to the Autel App via Bluetooth, which works without any issues. Connected to my Wifi subsequent to that and that worked fine via the App as well. My 2020 Hyundai Ioniq EV is limited to ~7.2kw charge and I’m getting about ~5.5kw on this charger at 48amps, so about 26-28 driving miles per hour. It takes about 6.5 hours to fully charge my battery, which is great b/c I can charge the entire battery at night during our off peak times. I highly recommend this charging station! ... show more

  • High-quality, solid build, easy to install and setup, WiFi + BT + app, 40A fast charging, w/ RFID.
Size: 40 Amp NEMA 14-50 plug Color: Dark Gray
This is a fine product. I have a Chevy Volt and I've been using its OEM charger so far. It plugs into a 110V power outlet, and it takes like 10-12 hours to fully charge the car. It was a really slow and painful process and if I had followed my EV rate time schedule and charged my car only during the low-cost hours then I couldn't get the car fully charged by the next morning. With this charger it's a different story! Level 2 charger with up to 40A charging rate lets me fill up my car in a matter of hours and it's guaranteed to be ready to go in the morning. The charger is very well made, it has a modern "minimalistic" design, there are only 4 status LEDs on its front showing power, charging, charging errors, Internet/Bluetooth connection status. Installation was very simple, and I was able to do it myself without needing to call in an electrician because I already have a 220V power outlet it requires in my garage. So, installation was a matter of drilling four holes in my wall and attaching the charger box right next to the wall power outlet. Configuration and setup is straightforward as well. You can use it with Bluetooth or without. If you choose to connect to it via Bluetooth then you can use its app to monitor charging, control charging mode and charging time, and you also have full user control over who's allowed to charge from it. As I said, the charger appears to be well made, quality construction, it feels like a professional high-end product. Inside there is a metal bracket that has to be mounted to a wall, the top cover is made of grey plastic. All connectors are heavy duty and wires are very thick and sturdy. Everything feels high-quality and built to last. It's also IP6 waterproof, which makes it perfect for installation outside. So, I don't worry about leaving it under the rain or hot sun and trust it will provide years of worry-free EV charging. Friendly speaking, this charger is more geared for shared access in a small office or an apartment because of its access control features - you can use a phone app or RFID card to control who has access to charging. If you enable the RFID feature then plugging in your car will not start charging unless you swipe registered RFID in the front of the charger. So, it's perfect if you install it in a public place in order to prevent unauthorized charging by someone, but I don't need these features for my home charging station because it's located in my garage. It's possible that that's the reason why it's so expensive (around $540 at the time of writing this review). For this price I would expect that it would have an LCD screen as well showing "advanced" information like charging status, charging rate, estimated time to full charger, etc, but it doesn't. One of the best things about the Autel MaxiCharger is its connectivity. You can always change the settings via its control panel, but I prefer to do it remotely via the app. The Autel Charge app is free and available in both Android and iOS. You can access your account from several phones at the same time in case you need to share the charger and access to it between your household members. The app also allows you to start charging, stop charging and program charging plans. This is a big deal if you are using a time-based electric utility plan when your electricity is cheaper in some specific period of time. You can also monitor your energy consumption remotely via the app. The amperage is also adjustable, so you can set it below 40A to suit your particular car if needed. *** TL;DR *** Yes, I recommend this EV level 2 charger. It is very well built and heavy-duty, fully waterproof IP65, WiFi and Bluetooth-enabled with an app that gives you full control of charging mode and time. It's rated for level 2 fast charging, up to 40A, and has a long and thick charging cable. In addition, it allows for user access control via app or RFID. Unfortunately, it does not have an LCD display and does not allow charging from a 110V power outlet, limiting its application, which could be an issue for someone. Great stationary EV charger, solid 5 stars in my book. +++ Pros +++ 1) Very well built, heavy-duty. 2) Fully waterproof IP65. 3) WiFi and Bluetooth enabled with a mobile app. 4) Level 2 fast charging, up to 40A. 5) Long and thick charging cable. 6) Full control of charging mode and time. 7) User access control via app or RFID. --- Cons --- 1) No LCD display. 2) Can't use a 110V power outlet. 3) Relatively expensive. ... show more

  • Works great and quality product!
Size: 50 Amp Hardwired Color: Silver
I recently got a EV car, Audi E-tron. I wanted to have my own home charging port at home and this one came highly recommended. I had a neighbor help me install this and it took us all but an hour to put up. Very easy unit to install and use. The cord is a great length and love the feature of being able to automate the charge periods ... show more

  • Built Like a Tank. Easy to Install. Cord and Plug Unwieldy Though
Size: 40 Amp NEMA 6-50 plug Color: Dark Gray
Replaced a nine year old Siemens EV charger that randomly went belly up one day. This will go up to 40A but the Siemens was a 30A so only a 40A breaker was installed. That said, we can go up to 32A on this circuit so a slight increase in charging speed is nice. You can adjust max charging on this bad boy (easily) by popping the front cover and using a small flat head screw driver. This seems like its built to commercial standards, which I hope will mean it lasts longer than the last one did. Nine years seems like a long time but these are essentially just fancy extension cables with some smart features. That all said, this was well worth the price and we are happy with it so far. Its much prettier and even more modern looking than the old one, but the cable is pretty damned heavy, and your not gonna easily stow it away. The J1772 connector probably weighs near five pounds and feels like its made out of metal. Like the title says, a bit unwieldy but solid as heck. The app is simple, but very nicely done and gives you plenty of data, with the ability to lower output or stop charging if needed. Helpful tip... If youre not hardwiring make sure to mount the charger exactly the distance to the plug as that cable is stiff and has almost no play in it. Also make sure to get the correct plug! We use 6-50 (three prong, no neutral), but I think 14-50 (w/ neutral) may be more common. ... show more

  • 8 months now with the 50amp hardwired version - great home EV charger!
Size: 50 Amp Hardwired Color: Dark Gray
I wanted to review this EV smart home charger after living with it for awhile. Works every time and since we get poor WiFi reception in the garage, I simply used the Ethernet port to plug into an internet access point in the basement. Some EV owners on the various forums for GV60/Ioniq 5/EV6 have reported issues with other home chargers causing the car to stop charging because of cables/connectors that get too hot during the 40amp 11kWh charges. This is to protect the car, yet we’ve never had this issue and it may be because the Autel has a very heavy/thick gauge charging cable. Even at the highest charge setting in EV the cable never gets too warm not does the connector. While a heavier cable can be a tiny bit more of a struggle, it seems it’s totally worth it - heat = resistance and that’s not good while charging. The other selling points were Autel’s great customer service and that you can replace the cable and or charge connector if they ever get damaged/run over. ... show more
