  • Probably the best home chargers
Size: NEMA 6-50 Plug
The media could not be loaded. I am a huge fan of Autel's wall mounted EVSE/chargers. I have used and reviewed just about every model they have. First of all, these are basically the same as their public EV charging stations, just with the touch screen and the cellular equipment removes, since you don't need to use a credit card at home. Surprisingly, they decided to leave the NFC card functionality. So, let's get to my thoughts about this unit: The 32 amp units are a relatively recent addition to Autel's lineup. They also have 40 and 50 amp units. 32 amps is the max you can draw off of a 40 amp circuit. It is also the maximum charge rate for a lot os EVs. I like that the 32 amp units also have a thinner charge cord. This makes it a little easier to handle. This model comes with a NEMA 6-50 plug, but it can easily be converted to hard-wire or to a different plug if desired. It comes with a very sturdy metal wall mounting bracket. This model has the charge wand holster right on the front. This could be good or bad depending on where you are mounting it. It is certainly convenient, but idk space is tight, you might want to get a separate holster that mounts to the wall. You can get ones that are angled so that the charge wand doesn't stick out as much. It really doesn't matter that much in my installation, because it is outdoors and there's plenty of room. Inside the unit, there is a current limiting switch. If you wanted to connect this to a 30 amp circuit, you could turn the amperage down to a safe 24 amps. You can further reduce the amperage in the app, if desired, but whatever you set the internal switch to cannot be overridden be the app. I love this feature! And speaking of the app, it is probably the best one I have used. The app is not just used to set up and control your home charger, it can also be used to activate Autel's network of public chargers. The app gives you all the information you could possibly want, including graphs of your charging history and monthly reports on the cost of charging. You can even control the charger remotely from the app. You can set up charging schedules, amperage, etc. You can even set up NFC cards so that only people who tap a card can use the charger. This would be great if it was installed at a condo or apartment building. The only thing I would like to see improved is the charge cord. In very cold weather, the cord gets quite stiff. This hasn't been a problem for my, but if I had to unroll the entire length (25 feet) of cord to reach my car, then wrap it back up afterwards, it might be a little tricky in the winter. ... show more

  • Best home charger on the market hands down!
Size: NEMA 6-50 Plug
This product is a must for electric drivers. Having reliable charging at home is important for me and my family to make sure we can get around when we need to, and this is by far the best home charger I have ever used and installed myself! The installation and setup process is super easy, don’t be intimidated! After installation, I plugged in my car which was about halfway charged, and it took about 3 hours to complete. It would have taken me double that with the old charger I was using before. The unit is small and doesn’t take up a ton of space. It’s also very well designed, and I think very aesthetically pleasing with the futuristic look – makes me feel like I’m driving something from the future, not just a car! The app that comes with the product is very well designed, easy to use, and provides so many benefits that I cannot recommend it enough. I can connect via Bluetooth and use the app to control and monitor the charger while my car is attached. If you aren’t super good with tech, you will still be able to learn and understand the app and its functions easily. If gives me information like how much power the charger is using, how much each charge costs me on the electric bill and lets me schedule a charge if I need it ready for a specific time that day. ... show more

  • Great quality and performance, one of the best at home EV chargers on the market.
Size: NEMA 6-50 Plug
The media could not be loaded. This Nema 14-50 home EV charger by Autel, is a very well-built and high quality charger. It works great and leaves you satisfied that you’ve got one of the best options available. Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and things to consider before buying. I. Performance – With the ability to charge at 32 Amps, you get a higher-middle range of power for a home charger. Most others range from 16-50 Amps and my included Tesla charger pulls 32 Amps as well. It works great with a nice app, it’s waterproof and has many intelligent features. II. Installation – This one is very simple if you have a Nema 14-50 plug already, just plug it in. If not, they aren’t extremely difficult, but most people would suggest you hire an electrician to install the plug. It’s actually pretty easy if your mechanical, but you have to follow code and most areas, you’ll need to get it inspected and signed off by the city or county. Either way, it’s worth it, because you’ll cut your needed charging time in half vs level 1 charging. III. Quality – This company makes great quality products. All the materials are very nice and it presents itself as a top quality charger in both appearance and performance. The cables are much thicker than my included Tesla charger, because of thicker wire or more insulation. I’ve tried many different EV charger and this is definitely one of the best on the market currently. IV. Nema 14-50 vs 6-50 – They both can run the same power in this unit, but the 6-50 is cheaper to install. This is because the plug and the wiring is cheaper. How much cheaper depends on how long of a cable you need from the panel to the plug for the install. The 14-50 is more popular and will be easier to find part. It’ll also most likely be better at being obsolete resistant. Overall, this is a great choice if you want or need a home charger. It charges fast at 32 Amps, with class and quality. You won’t be disappointed with this one, I highly recommend it. However, if you need faster charging than this, Autel also offers a 40 and 50-amp versions that are the same quality. Although the 50-amp has to be hardwired to the panel. I’ll be sure to update this review, if I ever start to have problems. If you’d find it helpful to see a visual demonstration of this product, I recommend you watch my included video. They say a picture is worth a 1000 words, well it’s a video! You can trust that this review is simply my honest opinion that is attempting to provide you with helpful insight that I wish I had before I picked this product. Hopefully it was helpful in your decision. ... show more
