A low frequency alternating current is sent through the battery to determine its remaining plate area. As the battery degrades, the plates degrade, as does its capacity and its conductance. Beside its consistent results, this method’s advantage over typical load testers is its ability to allow multiple tests without draining the battery and to test batteries that are low or completely discharged. Autel BT608 uses Adaptive Conductance to test the battery and its partnering, the alternator and starter to see if they can take and store a charge. Autel vehicle starter tester BT608 (E) can also run the starter test, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the test. Start the engine and let it idle. The test results will display Starting Voltage, Starting Current, Starting time. Note: All vehicle electrical items that draw power from the charging system must be turned off to establish a baseline output voltage from the alternator. Autel battery replacement tool MaxiBAS BT608 also supports generator test. The alternator output test is repeated with the additional electrical load created by turning on several vehicle systems. The value will be measured again both at normal idle speed and between 2,000 to 3,000 rpm engine speed. Alternator is charging correctly. You can get data of Ripple, Off-load Voltage, Load Voltage, Off-load Current, and Load Current. In addition to the BT608's charging system capabilities, Autel OBD2 diagnostic tool offers technicians the ability to read and clear diagnostic trouble codes in all available systems as well as view code descriptions.
