I recently purchased these poles to add our string lights to for our new above-ground pool deck, and I couldn't be happier! Here is what I liked: -They are incredibly sturdy. Got some outdoor string lights for the patio and needed something to hang them on so we got these. They’re very easy to put together and out in the ground. Took me about 15 min! There’s 5 prongs on each pile so they’re pretty sturdy! Patio looks great.

These poles are simply not strong enough in either materials or construction. My first box ended up being replaced because the folk of the poles were too weak and terribly made. The anchors actually broke before hit into ground. I’m only using these for my lawn area where no rocks in ground and should be really easy to stick in. I even used a 2x4 block with my rubber hammer to distribute the force. After replacements were installed with both brackets and cables, the poles are just too weak to even handle my costco bought string lights which is very light weighted with led plastic covered bulbs. What a waste of time and efforts, it’s a shame that I have to keep them while they just lean onto sides around my deck. I wish I didn’t drill those holes and installed those brackets with this poles so I can return them for good.

These aren't awful, but I had to re-engineer my approach with these posts for the type of string lights I was flying. The good: Easy to put together. The materials are for the most part sturdy and the pole mount prongs are well designed to hold the light strings in place. The posts are aesthetically pleasing. Room for improvement: As noted, I had to re-engineer my approach - I originally had planned to mount the posts on my deck. I deferred to pulling them off and using the ground stakes (my deck is just above ground level so it worked). The reason being - if you are installing heavy duty outdoor string lights, the foundational stabilization post is only usable with the ground stakes and not the hard mount base, for which there is only half inch screw in base. But even with the stabilization post you will need to space them fairly close together otherwise lights of this type will still cause and the posts to bow and the string to sag. mine are currently spaced about 7' apart so I am hoping that two more posts will address the issue. We'll see...
