This auger worked great for me to plant a variety of small to medium sized bulbs. It's pretty short, so be prepared to bend over or work sitting down. That wasn't an issue for me, and it helps being closer to the ground in controlling the auger. I find that it works best to spin it fast while pushing in and out of the ground to make a reliable hole.

This auger drill bit set is great for digging small holes in the garden. The surface appears to be powder coated which is nice. The drill bits also seem to be solidly made. I expect they should hold up well to garden soil, though they may struggle against very compacted soil.

I always found it a pain to have to cut holes in the landscape fabric, burrow out a 3"-5" opening, etc. to plant my spring bulbs. I have never used an auger before and I ordered this set on a whim as they were not very expensive and I hoped it would make the job easier. It took me a few minutes to figure out a good technique, but once I did I was off and running at lightning speed. It dug precise holes, poked perfectly though the landscape fabric and made the whole process super easy and quick. I Planted 50+ bulbs in 15-20 minutes - including cleanup - "Holy Efficiency Gain Batman!". Love this product!!!
