  • Very useful tool for a very good price.
Size: #4#6#8#10#12 Style: w/o Depth Stop
Nice bits for drilling and countersinking at the same time. The tapered drill produces a hole that uses the whole screw to grab wood, not just the upper sides, and with the drill shaft engaged in the wood, the countersink hole doesn't chatter and looks great. The adjustability of the countersink head also allows for different length screws, but really short screws can be a problem - long screws just require drilling deeper with a longer bit after starting the hole. Extremely useful item, a real time saver, and seem to work well in pine, plywood, and MDF. Haven't tried them in hardwood yet, but don't anticipate any problems there, just clear the chips more often. I took a scrap piece of 2x4 and drilled holes to store the bits - use one size up, so the #6 drills a hole for the #4 bit, etc. They hold nicely and are easily accessible. ... show more

  • Superb, highly recommended
Size: #4#6#8#10#12 Style: w/o Depth Stop
Over decades of woodworking, this style of countersink drills are the best. They usually hold up for months or years of continuous use and the tapered shape insures a screw will hold fast.

  • Their description will fool you into thinking this is a quality product, not
Size: #4#6#8#10#12 Style: w/o Depth Stop
I have been woodworking for over 40 years and have a lot of experience with drilling and cutting operations. I have many drill sets but my Combination countersink bits seem to walk off. I only have a couple with tapered bits, and they work well. My other countersink/drill bits allow the drill bit to slide inside the Shank. This style does not have a counterbore for relief of the screw Shank near the head. This style has a countersink that slides up and down the drill bit. I assumed that the pin they so proudly advertised to lock the drill into the hex shank was actually worth something. Nope, 27 holes and the bit came out of the hex Shank. I was countersinking holes in three quarter inch Maple veneer plywood. Do not go by the screw size description because these drill bits are larger than the hole necessary for a wood screw of their stated size. They advertise high speed steel, HSS, but these bits are not nearly hard enough to be considered a quality steel. There are many grades/types of HSS. They appear to be tin coated high carbon steel, HCS, but I don't have a hardness tester to verify that. The countersinks are not adequately sharpened. I could get past that because I sharpen my own cutting tools. I figured I would try something a little cheaper because the price was low enough that I could just toss them If they didn't live up to their description. I will be replacing these with something with better drill bits that has at least an M2 HSS rating. ... show more
