Saw the HOA landscapers, putting in the Christmas poinsettias using something like this and I had never seen one before. So I just had to get one. I immediately put it to use putting in some Taiwan reds and oh boy, it was actually fun planting. Of course be careful, if you hit in instruction it’s going to give you a jolt, so be in a position, so you don’t hurt your hand if it does that. The first time I used the 3” bit it snapped off at the neck. The dirt was not hard and easy to dig, so it was not bogging down. Not happy with this purchase

    • Don't work in compacted clay soil.
These are ok especially if you have loose, friable soil like in a raised bed garden, then they work fine. However these are incapable of penetrating through moist clay soil - you will not get far enough down into the soil to plant tulip bulbs. If you hit a small stone or pebble the bits bend out of shape. ... show more
