This thing works really well and is easy to operate. It comes with two 9 volt batteries that are installed in the controller. Make sure you don’t have my metal close to the bottom sensor when you power the unit on. The less interference the more accurate the metal detector is. I walked my property to test it out and the first area I scanned, the metal detector beeped. I then went into the Pin Point mode and listened to the beep until I scanned one area that was the loudest. I took the shovel that came with it and stuck it into the ground and dug up a metal nut. I spent about 1/2 hour digging up crap in the yard. Yes, this metal detector works but be very careful of the shovel. I used two hands to dig into some hard dirt and the shovel bent and pinched my pinky finger. Make sure to grip the shovel with your dominate hand . Though this particular model is new, I took a look at their other model offered here on Amazon. Their other detector offered has 4.5 stars and 201 reviews as of the time of writing this, so I figured for only $20 dollars more-why not upgrade to what they call the 2024 model. From what I can see, this newer model claims a chip in the detector that is 35% faster, and the display looks more updated. I appreciate that this is waterproof, as the detector is for combing the beaches here. It is surprising how much jewelry gets lost. This is surprisingly lightweight and it makes it possible to comb the beach without fatigue, and hopefully reunite the owners with their ring(s)! ... show more

I bought their old version for my son and he's enjoyed that one so much when I seen they came out with a new model I decided to buy me one! This one has a completely new designed frame that is really easy to setup and adjust and is definitely more ergonomic that the other one. Has a new chip that I can tell the little bit I've got to use this one is more sensitive/accurate. This thing is really easy to put together and use even if you're not expirenced in metal detecting. It's a nice budget model for those who want to just spend some time together with this hobby. ... show more
