This entry level binocular has clear, optics with great contrast. I couldn't detect any color fringing. They were particularly good at observing the night sky, and had a good field of view. They will never be as optically sharp as my Nikon Monarch 5, 8x42, but these were a fraction of the price. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for a good entry level pair of binoculars. Bought these for bow hunting season and to retire to 3D tournament use afterwards, when I upgrade. Glass snobs might disagree but these are phenomenal. Great feel, and good resolution. I used the product for whale watching on a trip to Alaska. It would have helped if the strap that came with them was useful but I managed. I really wanted to like these binoculars. I bought them for birding and the features and specs looked great for a $100 pair of binoculars. They are advertised as having a 13.1 ft close focus; but in reality, the pair that I received cold not focus anything closer than 19 ft. For me, that is a deal-breaker, so I am returning. Also, the eye relief is extremely long. Even with the eyecups twisted all the way out, I had to hold my eyes back away from the cups to achieve the proper focal point. ... show more

These are an excellent value, but that does not mean their performance is sub-par. I use them for hunting/spotting at long distances over an open field. A rifle scope is to cumbersome and ineffective for proper spotting. These fit the bill.

    • Great lenses but hard to turn the focus wheel for birding

So yes these are binos. Clear picture, no rolling ball effect etc. All good. But the focus wheel is damn hard to turn by one finger. Try watching a bird like goldfinch fly through these binos. It is so hard to turn the focus wheel. Otherwise great Bino.
