  • Amazing scope. Amazing pictures. I am extremely happy with this product. Amazing scope. Amazing pictures. I am extremely happy with this product.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ AMAZING SCOPE — I Wholeheartedly Recommend It I absolutely cherish this scope. There are many reasons why I give the DWARF 3 such a superb review. First, it’s highly portable. About as thick as a book, it travels effortlessly. I own another smart scope, and while I love them both, this one is my go-to for quick trips, motorcycle travel, and any time when space is at a premium. Second, the design is solid. It’s firmly built, robust, and remarkably handsome — it even looks a bit like the panoramic cameras on a Mars rover. The device feels solid in the hand and slews gracefully on the tripod I selected for it. Third, it takes excellent pictures of the sky. It’s amazing what this little scope can do in terms of image fidelity. The results are utterly astounding for its size and price, and I’m consistently impressed. Whether it is wide angle shots of the Milky Way, galaxies, nebulas of all sorts, or star clusters - I have not been disappointed. Fourth, once you get the hang of it, it’s easy to use. Equatorial mounting is a breeze, and Alt/Az shooting is even simpler. After a short learning curve, operation becomes second nature. Fifth, the included software works beautifully. The app denoises, cleans, and enhances images with remarkable ease. I’m genuinely impressed by how effortlessly it processes stacked frames. Beyond astrophotography, it excels as a terrestrial scope. While I primarily use it for the night sky, it’s also tremendous fun for wildlife photography — a wonderful versatility, especially with both telephoto and standard lenses. For advanced users, there’s plenty of headroom. The large internal memory, expandable storage, and ability to save in FITS format make it ideal for those who enjoy deeper post-processing and data control. The customization options are extensive. You can view histograms, adjust gain and shutter settings, and experiment with multiple filters. The dual-band filter makes emission nebulae pop, while the astro filter brings galaxies to life. It’s rare versatility at this price point. I also recommend the DWARF tripod. It’s a bit pricey but worth it — robust, smooth, and perfectly matched to the scope’s balance and motion. In short: I recommend this scope without reservation. It’s worth every cent, and I’d gladly pay double for what it delivers. A truly great product that opens the heavens. Thank you, DWARF Labs, for making an outstanding instrument. You have a loyal customer in me. ... show more

  • Very easy to use, works well even with light pollution Very easy to use, works well even with light pollution
This smart telescope is able to take remarkably good photos of pretty dim objects even with substantial light pollution. I live near San Jose, California and the Bay Area has a LOT of light pollution. If you have a tilt head tripod, get a phone mount and a "bubble level" app that shows the degrees. Set that to your latitude and the Dwarf 3 can automagically check to see if you have proper angle and North alignment for EQ mode for the best long exposure results. It was quite easy to setup. I leave my tripod at that angle and it has a quick detach plate so I can easily attach/detach the telescope and not disturb the angle setting. The other nice thing is that you can program schedules where it wakes up and tracks things autonomously while you sleep. I captured the image of Markarian's Chain (a chain of over a dozen galaxies) while I was sleeping. It was in the best viewing position from 230am to 5am so I programmed it with the app, synced with the Dwarf 3 and just left it out all night. In the morning when I woke up, there was the image. It also has some decent image post-processing and even has some neat AI features like star removal so you can better see the galaxies and nebulae. Attached are Markarian's Chain with just de-noise filtering and then with the stars removed. It comes with a solar filter so you can also view the sun, but I haven't had a chance to try that yet. It is compact and comes with a nice carrying case which has enough space for an external battery. Between the built-in battery and my 24000mAh external battery, it easily lasts the entire night for several multi-hour exposures. The quality and design of the unit is very nice and sleek which is a plus. These pictures were all taken from my back yard. Definitely worth the price. ... show more

  • A complete newcomer to astronomy — and this telescope made me feel like a pro
Keep in mind that I had zero experience with astronomy going into this, and the Dwarf 3 met me right where I was at. Installing it was easy, with no prior knowledge needed in their detailed instructions, and the app itself is really the secret weapon here, if you read any articles on geo-location services, then it basically does all of the navigation for you which erases one of the biggest barriers to entry into stargazing. Point and follow the instructions, then let the telescope do its thing. There's a slight learning curve — I'm not gonna pretend otherwise — but everything is organised in an easy to follow layout, even as a first timer. I was taking pictures of things I genuinely never expected to see out in the wilderness away from the light pollution of city life. It's hard to describe the experience of watching this thing open up, and the sky beyond it. I found a great excuse to use it at the campsite where it was an ideal match — darker skies make all things astronomy worth it and its portable design allowed for easy transport. I also got the DWARFLAB Mini Tripod with Hydraulic Head as an add-on, and I'd highly recommend buying them together. It more stabilizes the video and helps in tracking proper objects to shoot, so closer shots tend to be smoother in little adjustments. This telescope is designed to show that there is no learning barrier for astronomy proponents — should you have ever had an interest in astronomy, but thought it was too steep a hill to climb. Fantastic piece of kit. ... show more

  • Fantastic Intro To Astrophotography Scope Fantastic Intro To Astrophotography Scope
Super fun product for space nerds. You set the scope up on a tripod (can BYOTripod or use theirs), use the app to align it, select a target, wait a few hours and get surprisingly results. It’s compact and lightweight compared to any other telescope really, so great for beginners who don’t have space for tons of awkward gear. The app can be a little glitchy, trouble connecting to phone, if the device loses power during a shoot you have to process the images in a different way than the standard app way which is confusing. You get really incredible results for something entry level so I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Absolutely Amazing Absolutely Amazing
I have been playing with Astrophotography for a few years using a DSLR and equatorial mount and enjoyed the hobby. The setup of my equipment was always tricky to get the correct polar alignment and then finding targets that were dim was very difficult, especially when trying to get the target zoomed correctly to fill a decent portion of the frame. I was skeptical that the Dwarf3 would be as good as what I have read but I am even more impressed than I could have imagined. I'm able to set it up in minutes and take long duration series so I can enjoy the photography part without the frustration of the setup. This unit costs less than I invested in an equatorial mount and lenses etc for my DSLR. The unite is easy to use and software easy to understand. I'm using an equatorial mount so I can easily angle the Dwarf3 to get a solid equatorial alignment, which the software allows you to measure and tells you how to adjust to get better and better alignment. Setting up a series of shots is easy with auto parameters or setting individual parameters yourself. It comes with three built in filters for astro, dual band (for emission nebulas), and visible as well as a magnetic sun filter for sun shots. Buying a dual band filter for my DSLR was several hundred dollars alone and makes a significant difference when you are targeting the nebulas. It seems durable and is very light. I'm using a solid mid-weight tripod but you could likely use a lightweight tripod. The onboard stacking feature works so well and is so much more convenient than having to download a set with darkframes and process on my laptop. You can take new dark frames for custom settings that you prefer for series of shots. It comes with three dark frame default series out of the box so you can shoot without setting up dark frames. They also have the feature to process images by uploading them to their server and it takes a few minutes to process and send back to the Dwarf3. Their processing is so good I have stopped messing with it on my laptop for most targets. You can download your photos to your phone after processing and I've uploaded a few comparisons of before and after their processing for the same target stacks. I haven't had issues with the wifi connection like some other users note, my backyard has decent coverage from my house wifi network and it is so convenient to setup the system, align and then be able to setup series of shots from inside my house from my phone. The battery lasts several hours but I have a charger setup (it uses USB-C) so I can shoot longer or I have used a batter backup brick to power while using. I'm incredibly happy with this purchase and it is so fun to use. I've barely scratched the surface of what it can do and haven't played with the wide angle, panoramas or other feature at all. I upload the processed and unprocessed versions of the Pacman and California Nebulas as well as the Andromeda Galaxy so you could the provided processing difference. The other photos are the Triangulum Galaxy and a cluster. Also, I'm shooting from a backyard in the city so Bortle 5-6 location. ... show more

  • Awesome Telescope!
This Telescope is fantastic in all that it does, Day photos, Night photo. The tracking of moving subjects and taking videos or photos is great. And the Star photos at night is awesome. I don't have enough room to post all that it has. But I can say for most families it's great. And easy to learn.

  • Great beginner telescope and budget friendly Great beginner telescope and budget friendly
This thing is phenomenal. So easy to setup and get up and running quickly. While you can use far more sophisticated programs to edit in post you can get some pretty good results in post just through the scope's app. It's amazing watching your image take shape as the images are stacked on the screen live for you to see with each shot. This telescope really brings the ability to do astrophotography even to the newest beginner. Highly recommend this telescope. Attached photos I took with the scope and cleaned up in post. ... show more
