  • Reliable Equipment
Style: AT500
Super user friendly, plug and play. Kept having issues with a 2018 Hyundai Sonata and didn’t want to keep going to a parts store so I got this. Couldn’t be happier as I’m able to get parts delivered because I know what’s wrong. Great value and recommend for beginners and experienced mechanically inclined people. ... show more

  • Great for casual users
Style: AT300
I like having this on hand to get a look at what my car is having issues with before I take it into a mechanic. Armed with that information, I’m able to do a search online and get an idea of what things might cost and also have some knowledge of issues before anyone tries to pressure me into doing repairs I don’t need. This tool does a good job of giving me the info I need in a straightforward manner. It’s easy to use and I haven’t had any problems with it so far. I don’t know if it’s something that a serious car enthusiast or mechanic would be satisfied with but for casual users like me, it’s a great option. ... show more

  • Accurate CEL Code
Style: AT500
I purchased this to help me diagnose why the check engine light was on in my vehicle. It gave me the accurate code that was causing issues with the injectors. Was able to find the issue, replace the part, and clear the CEL with the help of this device. A must have for any home mechanic.

I bought this for my son who is just starting his journey to become a mechanic. He loves it, it's already helped him diagnose a few problems on his car. Good buy!

  • This OBD2 reader is fine as emergency glovebox basic code reader, but not for serious DIY mechanics.
Style: V701
I like to keep an OBD2 code reader in my car at all times, many times on the road when my car starts acting up or a check engine light comes on I will pull over and read the trouble code to see if I should stop to prevent engine damage, or continue because I can see it is only a minor issue. I have a much nicer pro OBDII reader in my main daily driver, but I have a second car that has been acting up this past year and I wanted to order this one for that second car. The price for this is very reasonable for what it will do, which is a bit more than just a basic OBDII reader. It will give you most of the basic information a novice needs, by showing and explaining your trouble code, and clearing dashboard check engine light, it will also check if you car can pass most emission test, but it is not nearly as complete as the more expensive OBDII readers. If you are an advanced DIY mechanic and like to do your own repairs I would say move up a level or two that can help you discover and also repair your problem rather than just finding and clearing the code. ... show more

  • You can save a ton of money by buying this.
Style: V701
Okay, this scan tool can pay for itself the first time you use it. I have a far more expensive scan tool that doesn't function as well as this one. As you know you can start your car and get the dreaded "Check Engine" light and not have a clue as to what is going on. Are you going to damage your engine, or is it just another annoying engine blip that you just need to reset in order to be free of the "Check Engine" light? Fear not. Plug this scanner in and it's going to tell you what's wrong. It might just be a minor engine miss on a cold winter morning that just requires you to reset. Or, it could be some major issue that you need to address now before you cause some real damage. Either way you'll know what your up against. Take it to a shop and know what's wrong, or be at their mercy. Some shops will charge you $99.00 to scan your On Board Diagnostic Computer (OBD). This scan tool is currently $29.99 and you can use it forever and as many times as you'd like to. The features are all listed on the Amazon page and how deep you go with the tool depends on you. It is a very capable scan tool and isn't some basic tool that gives some information, but not everything you need. If you use this scan tool once it'll pay for itself. I think everyone should have a scan tool if for no other reason than to be able to know what's wrong before you take it to a shop. This tool will go a long way into giving the information that you need to make an informed decision. This tool is a solid buy! ... show more

  • Money well spent

As I am not very mechanically inclined, I've never considered owning a car diagnostic tool. What for? Chances are I won't be able to fix the problem, but I see that this is a good tool to have. It allows you to make an informed decision of whether or not an issue needs immediate attention. if it is something that you may try to fix yourself or requires a pro. I tested this on our family's extra car, a 1999 Mercury Mystique. It has had a check engine light on for years. The car runs fine so we've ignored it assuming it was caused by something minor or not worth fixing on a car this old that's not driven often. I found the interface under the cars dash and plugged the scanner in. It immediately powered up, even before turning the car on. I turned the car on and went through the different menu items. Most of them seemed to work fine, a few didn't have information available, such as the VIN number reader. This may have something to do with the car's age. The main function, the engine diagnostic, worked well. It gave me the reading "P0171 Bank 1 Lean". Auto Zone's trouble codes site give a good explanation of this code and it's causes and possible fixes. It basically means that there is too much oxygen "leaning" the fuel mixture, most likely due to an air leak in a hose or something since the engine is so old. This scanner has a wealth of information available to help diagnose or monitor your cars functions. Much more than novices will need or understand, but it's also simple enough for most to use. ... show more

  • Worked exactly for what I need!
Style: AT300
I am a complete novice to reading car codes so there are definitely some menus and reading in here that I have no clue what they mean. I will say that the interface is very easy to navigate which is nice. It's got some testing and such that I'm sure advanced users will be able to use efficiently. A while back my ambient temp sensor basically got smashed and caused my engine light to go on. After a bit I was able to splice on a new housing and place in a brand new sensor. The sensor worked instantly but the engine light was still on. After replacing the sensor I plugged this thing in and was able to clear the engine light with it, which I was ecstatic about. No more lights on my dash haha! Overall I am very happy with this and am glad to be able to keep it in my car for the next inevitable car issue to rear it's head. ... show more
