I never expected to need the protection plan, but I’m glad I had it. Two years into my four-year Asurion coverage for a dehumidifier, the unit stopped working. Purchased a 4 year plan for a dehumidifier that was freezing up on the lower coils only, which is a symtom of refrigerant loss. I filed an online claim; within minutes I was issued an Amazon gift card refund for the original purcase price. Fast, easy, and no hassle. I bought this plan because my experience with modern dehumidifiers have shown that they have lost refrigerant at 2-3 years of use. It is my understanding that the current "more environmentally friendly" refigereants have smaller molecules, thus leak out more easily and that's why they no longer last 25 years. Without a protection plan, you are lucky, they fail within the typical 1 year warranty and typically the manufacturer replaces or refunds, but will not process the claim before a repair center verifies it as non-repairable. There are no local repair centers where I live; with another plan I had to drive an hour to get to one...$; you have to ship to others... $$$! If you aren't lucky, they fail anytime after the warranty expires. Once a unit loses refrigerant, virtually no one will repair a home dehumidifier or a/c like they would for a comnercial unit, so a repair center step costs money and time while the humidity skyrockets in your home. Protection plans typically are refunded if the unit is replaced under the manufacturer's warranty period. I have had this positive experience. With the Asurion plan, my unit failed and the next day, I filed a claim describing the failure and got an "instant" refund on an e-mailed Amazon gift card and placed the order for a new one. No repair center brick wall! The only downside was that the unit I wanted was about 2 weeks out for Prime delivery, but was available off the shelf locally; you have to be satisfied with re-ordering from Amazon or buying somewhere else and sitting on the Anazon gift card for later use. I absolutely purchased an Asurion 4 year plan for my new dehumidifier! Affordable smart protection for home dehumidifiers and a/c units.

It worked, but took a little effort. Purchased a 4 year plan on a dehumidifier that died after 2 years. When first tried to file a claim with Asurion they said it should still be covered by the manufacturer. Went to manufacturer site and they said that if purchased from a "heating & cooling professional" the warranty was 5 years but if from a retailer (like Amazon) it was 1 year. So, back to Asurion site to retry. Key was getting on the chat. It took a few minutes but "Karen" came on and I explained the situation. After answering a few questions, she said I was covered and an Amazon e-gift card for the full purchase price should come via email within 24 hours. It came in less than an hour. I'm a happy camper.

I had a 4 yr extended warrenty thru Asurion for a dehumidifier I bought from Amazon. It died 6 months before the end of 4 yrs. I'm lucky I had that insurance. I took one star away only because I could not find how to put in a claim on its web site. It wasn't until I asked Gemini in Chrome that I was able to find it. It was very easy once I found it and literaly within minutes my claim was submitted and I recevied Amazon credit in the full amount without having to return the item. Easzy-peezy. I just bought another dehumidifier and got the 4 yr extended warrenty thru Asurion.

First I purchased Asurion 4yr protection for 2 Air Conditioners simply for peace of mind if any of them went bad. Unfortunately my smaller AC unit for whatever unknown reason pretty decided that cool air was not going to be it's main job anymore. Called Asurion CS for the very 1st time and spoke to representative Eli, and after explaining the situation and also providing proper verification of the unit. Everything was handled with professionalism, understanding and courtesy from both of us. After the claim was filed it was approved within a few minutes and was issued a complete refund. So for certain products you may purchase through Amazon/Prime that you feel more comfortable knowing you have a protection plan, I highly recommend the extra spending for the longest Asurion protection plan available simply for the just in case factor. The best outcome is you don't ever have to file a claim but if you do, know that they are the Real Deal. Peace of mind goes a long way from product failure along with added protection helps the longevity of your purchase investment.
