This review is for the ASURION 4 Year Home Improvement Protection Plan ($200 - $249.99). I purchased this extended warranty for a pool pump/motor assembly which had mixed online reviews regarding longevity. When the motor failed due to a bad bearing soon after expiration of the manufacturer's 12 month warranty, I made a claim via ASURION and subsequently received an Amazon git card for the original purchase price (less taxes). The online claim process was straightforward with chat assistance from a very helpful agent. Within a few days of registering my claim, I received an email indicating that repair/replacement was not viable and providing confirmation of the full reimbursemnent via Amazon gift card. I am pleased with the warranty protection provided and will consider ASURION coverage for future purchases of expensive items.

I’m giving this a 1 star because I can’t leave a -1. Last year we purchased a LONDON SUNSHINE non-electric toilet/bidet in addition to an ASURION 4 year protection plan. Sure enough, not even a year later, the flushing mechanism of the toilet stopped working. We were told by Amazon that we needed to contact the manufacturer because the product was still under warranty and Asurion protection would not kick in until the manufacturer’s warranty expired. After contacting London Sunshine, they said their warranty only covers parts and so they sent us a replacement part for the flushing mechanism plus a YouTube video showing how to install the part. Hysterical! The process actually requires a plumber to remove the toilet in order to install it. So we waited for a month so the first year manufacturer’s warranty would expire and then we contacted Amazon for help. Amazon reiterated that Asurion protection plan includes parts AND labor and not to worry because we were covered. So, confidently we filed a claim at around 11am that morning. By early evening we got a message from ASURION with the good news that they were sending us an Amazon gift card to refund the cost of the toilet because it was beyond repair. What????!!! We contacted Amazon again to find out why ASURION did not even send a technician to see the toilet, try to fix it, or determine that it was beyond repair. The Amazon supervisor who gave us his name, as Sam H, and “was there to help us” stayed on the line with us while we called ASURION. When Sam H. asked the Asurion rep how they came to the conclusion that the toilet was beyond repair without even sending a plumber to look into it, she said that she would not know the answer because it is a different department who makes the decision. Nothing we, or the Amazon rep said changed her position. NOW, WE ARE LEFT WITH A NON WORKING TOILET INSTALLED ON A 25th FLOOR, NEEDING TO HIRE A PLUMBER TO EITHER FIX IT OR REPLACE IT . MEANWHILE, WE RECEIVED A REFUND —-IN A GIFT CARD, NOT EVEN THE ORIGINAL FORM OF PAYMENT—-FOR THE BASE COST OF THE TOILET MINUS TAXES MINUS THE COST OF THE ASURION PROTECTION PLAN. MY HEARTFELT RECOMENDATION TO EVERYONE THAT IS CONSIDERING PURCHASING A TOILET, OR ANY APPLIANCE FOR THAT MATTER, DO NOT BUY IT THROUGH AMAZON WHICH INCLUDES THEIR RECOMENDED EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY. DON’T BUY IT AND RUN TO YOUR NEAREST HOME DEPOT OR LOWES OR ANYBODY ELSE.
