This knife set is great for me. I wanted something nice with a block but not too fancy in case I ruin them. They come pretty sharp, sharp enough to give me the traditional first cut from a new set while opening them. The block is sturdy and heavy, matches the handles. The knifes are heavy in the good way and they cut with ease right out of the box. The pattern is NOT close to looking like Damascus. It wouldn't fool anyone. It's a very light etching. Acid etched or a VERY LIGHT laser maybe? They still look classy, but not like real Damascus. The handles look and feel high quality. Honestly for the money I've had worse plastic handle sets than this. If you need the knives (and I'm telling you, you DO need these phenomenal scissors) then go for it. ... show more

The set arrived and I am pleased with it. I did get one knife that had a small nick in the middle of one of the blades. I may be able to get it out with some work. Overall the blades are all VERY sharp and well balanced in my hand. The block is elegant looking and hold the knives perfect. I am very pleased with the variety of knives and each seems very well crafted’. I’m sure my one knife that had a nick, was probably not common- because all the other ones are perfect. Pretty much everything about this set is good. Excellent assortment, quality forged steel blades, heavy and attractive block…BUT the Damascus pattern is not authentic as is the case with so many knives these days. I will say it is a fairly attractive facsimile. I've seen a lot worse. I am just getting really tired of all the artificial Damascus products. Granted if this set were true Damascus steel it would probably be around $500. ... show more

This is the nicest kitchen knife set I've owned, and one I'm going to keep for a long time. The etching in the blades are very cool (though not as pronounced as in the Amazon listing). The block sits neat and nicely on my kitchen counter. Just this evening, I used a number of the knives while preparing dinner (cutting up vegetables, dicing up chicken for kabobs, and more). The knives are plenty sharp, and the included knife sharpener is a great addition. I was a little disappointed that the shears do not also have the same etching on the blade, but it's not a big deal at all, as the set overall is still great. Let me start by saying I was suspicious of the quality when I ordered. The pictures made the Damascus pattern look cheap. But after receiving the set of razor sharp knives, I am relieved to say that they are a truly nice set of knives... The block is top knotch, the scissors are unique and powerful. The acai handles are exotic but refined and feel great in the hand... For the price you cannot go wrong at all. Wonderful classy knives I look forward to using a whole lot of! ... show more

This is a beautiful knife set. The design is attractive and everyone who visits my house for dinner always compliments these! I've had Astercook knife set before. They are wonderful. I cook a lot and good sharp knives are so essential in great experience cooking for your loved ones. It makes things so much less stressful. Dull knives are safety hazard too. This is such a good quality knife set. I love the block and the color of it. The knife handles are lovely too. Love that brown color. These knives are razor sharp. The Damascus is gorgeous. The kitchen shears are the coolest thing I've seen. Love every bit of this set. Will get rid of my old set. ... show more
