I found this 5-digit combination bike cable lock for one of my kiddos. Since he rides all around town, I was looking for a straightforward, keyless solution that wouldn't add too much bulk to his ride. Theoretically, it offers 100,000 possible combinations, making it much harder for someone to "guess" the code. The cable itself is a braided steel wire encased in a thick, waterproof PVC coating. Functionality and Setup: Setting the personal code was very intuitive. The included instruction sheet clearly outlines the four-step process: Step 1: Open the lock with the default code (00000). Step 2: Turn the internal reset knob 90 degrees clockwise. Step 3: Set your new 5-digit code. Step 4: Turn the knob back to its original position. The dials have a tactile click and move smoothly without catching. The lock also comes with a mounting bracket that easily attaches to the bike frame, allowing the lock to click into place when not in use. Security Level: While this is a robust cable lock, it’s important to remember its intended use. It is perfect for daytime use in lower-risk areas or for quick errands where you just need to deter opportunistic thieves. While I am not a lock expert, I did a lot of research that just shows thieves will steal what they want. Some advocate $500 locks for expensive bikes, but watching a video of someone simply cutting a chunk from the steel tube a bike was locked to in order to simply slip out the superlock - in the middle of the day - in a public square - while being videotaped, showed the folly of trying to spend enough to stop a thief. Your lock might take time to cut through, but the post you are locking to is not that hard. The goal as I understand it, is to make it inconvenient for thieves and to reduce their window of opportunity. That's where this lock comes in. I will likely get a heftier lock that is harder to cut through to use along with this, but this cable makes it easy to add helmets, wheels and other items to a lock: things that are still easy to steal but don't fit in a stronger lock. This lock has a total of 3/8 inch thickness including the cover. (That means it can be cut with cable cutters.) The cover keeps the steel from damaging the bike. Even the lock mechanism is covered in nylon and won't damage the bike. (too bad the same cannot be said of the brush I've been riding through). The combination is easily changed to you personally and 5 digits is a good compromise between ease and complication. It comes with a holder to clamp the lock to the bike.

This review is for a BIKE LOCK, not an electric bike. There has been a product switch. The bike lock is made of solid materials, the cable itself is a thick rubber coated steel cable, probably at least 1/4 inch thick. The best thing about this lock is the ability to change the lock code to whatever 5 digit code you would like. And it is a very easy process to change that code, almost too easy as long as you can open the lock once, then you simply rotate a part of the lock, enter your new code, and rotate back the piece, and now you have set the new code. The price on the lock was a very good deal. The length is also as expected. All around a solid bike lock.

I ordered the ASKGO 5 digit bike lock cable to use with my e-bike while out running errands. This cable lock really gives me the extra security I wanted while leaving my bike unattended. The cable itself is a heavy gauge steel cable. It has a thick rubber type coating that keeps my bike from being scratched up while also providing a weather protectant to the cable itself. The lock was super simple to set up. It is set at the 00000 default when you get it. The locking key slides out smoothly. There is a plastic knob that is exposed once the key is removed. Keeping the 00000 in place then you rotate the knob clockwise, (forward) then turn the digits to your new 5 digit code. Once you have chosen the number to set your combination to, simply turn the plastic knob backwards, counter clockwise back into place. Then you’re all set to use your lock with your chosen code. The rotating digits are larger and easy to read. The dial turns easily and doesn’t take a lot of force. The cable comes with a mounting bracket that you can place right on the frame of your bike. The cable stays coiled up while not in use and slides onto the bracket to take with you. Really happy with this keyless security cable and great value for the money.
