I bought this clock because I wanted a small, battery operated clock for my bathroom. The look of the clock is actually very nice and it was quiet. No ticking or humming noise. The one thing I didn't like was when I placed it on my counter, it was hard to see the numbers at the top of the clock - 11, 12, 1 if you were too close to it. If I stood back I could see all the numbers. I think it was because of how the clock slants. I love the size, simplicity, and actual wood elements of this clock. it's easy to set up, easy to read, easy to like. it does tend to run fast after a while-- i end up re-setting it every couple of months, but it's not hard to do, and i think this is common with many analog clocks under $50. one thing to note that may be important to some users: it is not silent. if the clock is on your desk and your office is quiet, you will hear the seconds ticking by. some people may like this background noise, others may find it grating. i find it mildly but consistently annoying and often end up putting music on to mask the sound. i think about replacing it all the time, but have yet to find another clock that fits on my shelf in the same way, has the same visual appeal, and is *silent*. ... show more
