I am trying to learn to make different types of rice dishes but I never get them right using pot and stove. This is a great rice cooker for that purpose. However, I wish I had gotten a little bigger size than this. For two people it’s good for one time and maybe some leftovers. But I can’t really do a meal plan using this. However, it’s very easy to cook rice in it so I am just using it more often. Some dishes such as chicken briyani do get burned a little at the bottom when using the cycle. so I am still learning how to operate this with my own modifications. ... show more

    • Great Little Rice Cooker
My older Hamilton-Beach rice cooker frequently produced rice that was either mushy or overcooked and dry on the bottom, so I decided to try another brand. The Aroma's build quality seemed just a tad lower than the Hamilton-Beach, but that was deceptive, as it consistently produces great rice! Even after an hour of keeping the rice warm, there are no burnt patches on the bottom, as there were with the Hamilton-Beach. I haven't yet tried the saute function, as I have a larger multi-cooker for this task. Also, The Hamilton-Beach's non-stick pot started to chip shortly after I started using it (even though I only used its plastic spoon), but the Aroma's pot is still pristine after several uses - fingers crossed! ... show more

The Aroma Professional 4 Cup lives up to the hype in terms of simplicity and reliability. There are plenty of other reviews that cover this. However, I am disappointed that the lid is not removable for cleanup Nor does the inner lid come out for cleaning. I do not appreciate having to take the entire machine over to the sink just to clean out the lid after making grits or oatmeal (or anything else that bubbles inside). And for full cleaning, I needed to pop the metal insert out of the plastic housing (which it is NOT designed to do on a regular basis) which will weaken the tabs holding it in This is a feature that was present in older version of this cooker, and would be much appreciated in this one. What a journey, when i was but a wee little lad my mama would feed the hord of children i called my sibling (5) with rice pilaf and normally youd cook it with a stove on a pan. Id be sweating bullets making sure id either didnt let it brown long enough or burned it to a crisp. Well as i grew older and my love/hate of making my favorite rice grew i often wondered would a rice cooker be capable of making This hallowed rice sent from the heavens... But alas i never had the nerve nore thought to attempt such a disatrous or ground breaking thing like making rice with a rice cooker. Even when i moved out and lived off ramen and pbandj i yearned for that perfect rice. I then bought a cheap rice maker that would make white rice terribly and made me lose hope. One long year later i had the urge and thought maybe i can do it learn from the years and past rice failures and went out on a limb this afforable rice cooker... can cook white rice good bit can it do it can it make my goal my true delecacy?????.....it can and did also steamed some veggies with it. 10/10. Now with the pic above i wait for tommorow to be awaken by the smell of perfectly cooked rice for work tommorow ... show more
