  • Premium materials, but you'll need a lot of space
This arm wrestling trainer from MarchMars is a one-trick pony, but it's no doubt a premium built device. In the package you'll received the arm trainer, a brief instruction sheet, and an elbow rest. The elbow rest is essentially one of those thick mouse pads, but it gets the job done and I'm glad they included it as part of the purchase. The arm trainer itself comes fully assembled and ready to use right out of the box. Operation of the trainer is straightforward. There is a hydraulic press in the middle of the device that has a ring on the top. You twist the ring clockwise or counterclockwise to set your preferred resistance. Once that's set, you position your elbow on the mouse pad, grab the lever, and push down with a steady force. The hydraulic piston creates an even amount of resistance for the last 70% of your pressing rep. It's smooth and you won't have any herky-jerky movements that might injure your arm. The 1-3 settings are pretty weak and probably not all that effective for most people. Settings in the 10-12 range offer a lot of resistance, so that all but the heaviest arm wrestling trainers can get some positive use out of this. The build quality is impressive. The wooden frame and handle are solid and look great. The hydraulic piston is secure with heavy duty metal bolts within counter sunk holes in the wooden frame. There are rubberized coatings on the top of the lever handle for a good grip, likewise there are two long rubber strips on the bottom of the frame to mostly keep the device in one spot on your desk without scratching it. It's a durable unit for sure. For all the premium build qualities, there are some considerations to make if you are thinking about buying this. First, it's obviously a very specific work out device. You can use it to stack tons of smooth action reps if you are arm wrestling training. It will help build your forearms and biceps/triceps, and maybe some shoulder muscles, but not much else. Second, you need a lot of open space on a desk to use it properly. This is vary slightly based on your wingspan, but I think most people are going to need at least 18 square inches of space on a desk to use it freely with properly elbow positioning (see pictures). Third, while the rubber strips on the bottom help it stay in place on your desk with no scratches while you are pressing the lever down, you can easily and unintentionally lift the device up as you guide the lever back up to it's resting point. I kind of wish they added a small post to the opposite end of the device to make it easy to grip with your off-hand to keep it in one spot. Finally, since it takes up so much desk space, it's hard to just leave it there on a desk or a table. It would have been nice if they provided a simple storage bag for it so it doesn't get dusty sitting somewhere in between uses. Overall, those are minor quibbles that I listed above and not worth knocking this thing down more than a half star. If you are looking for an arm wrestling trainer or want a device that will focus on arm muscle workouts, this thing is a premium choice that should last a long time. ... show more

  • Pretty good but not for legit arm wrestlers.
Underwhelming to be honest. I'm no where near a professional or would even consider myself to be advanced and I can press the max setting. Gave it 4 stars because it will be useful to me for awhile but if you are a legit arm wrestler I wouldn't bother.

  • Really cool and well made
This thing is super cool and not something I've seen before. The price was quite intimidating but now that I see the product it's understandable why. It has a really great build quality and material, made from smooth-finished solid beechwood. The real highlight is the hydraulic arm with a very easy and intuitive system for raising the level of resistance. You simply pull back the arm so you can turn the dial 1-12. It certainly doesn't feel like a junk novelty item, it serves a specific purpose very well. The rubber hardware is nice and professional looking. It would fit right in in a home gym, bar, or man cave; it's about 1 1/2-2 feet long and slightly weighty but doesn't feel in the way. I do think it would be better if there was a way to fasten it to a table. It does stay flat while in use, but having the option to keep it affixed would be great. I also think it would be nice if it came with more information on the product and ways to incorporate it with exercise. ... show more

  • Great product for arm training especially if arm wrestling is your thing!
This is the ultimate way to train your arm for the sport of arm wrestling or for overall forearm strength. The build quality of this product is amazing, and definitely worth the money. The hydraulic system can be easily adjusted with a twist knob to increase or decrease the resistance of the product. It is made of solid wood that is durable and provides good support when using it. The bottom has grip pads that help keep the product in place when being used. It's easy to use and just a few reps a day increases strength and technique while arm wrestling. I love how functional this product is and the effectiveness of the movement it provides. I highly recommend this product for arm training. ... show more

  • Great for overall arm strength
I have smaller arms so I get more of an overall arm workout whereas my boyfriend is more on the forearm. He doesn’t find as much value as I do since I’ve found a variety of exercises to go with it. It’s incredibly well crafted, resilient and sturdy. It really does simulate arm wrestling. I won’t be challenging anyone at the Highland Games or anything but I definitely like that I can modify the resistance and work on toning my arms and strengthening / stabilizing my shoulder. Kind of a neat gizmo. Wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I do. It works really well and is well made. Can’t complain as I work my way to She-Hulk status. ... show more
