I live in Palm Springs with hideous heat in the Summer, (120 is not rare!) which means my pool can go South in a second if the chemicals are not perfectly balanced. I have battled with trying to maintain the clorine levels (which the hot Sun eats up immediately); and to deter green algae growth,(which LOVES the heat). I've wasted hundreds on chemicals, and test kits and cleaning my filters sometimes every week in the Summer! I had to drain the pool several times and acid wash just to get it back to normal. Cut to this Summer- I read some reviews about this prodcut that honestly sounded too good to be true, but for $20. I thought I'd try it out. Gods knows we've tried everything else. Well, its been almost a month now, and we have had the worst hot weather which is when the algae usually starts up, but since I started using this, I swear- there is NO MORE ALGAE! I used to vacumn the massive amounts of green algae off the walls every day and left my pump and pool vac robot running for over 12-14 hours! Now I just use these tablets with my cloring tablets and I cut the pump running to 8 hours, and STILL NO ALGAE. My pool used to also get really cloudy for no reason, but not since I started using this. I have done nothing different other than add this product to my 2 clorine floaties and keep adding tablets along with cloring tablets. I have not had toshock the pool since, or clean my filters yet. I have yet to see any algae- I am still in shock. I have not had to brush the walls for almost a week! (Though I will anyway, just to be safe). Great if you live in the desert and clorine levels dissapate far too quickly. It helps the clorine last longer, and helps it stay balanced so it keeps the water crystal clear.

I just set up my new above ground pool this summer. I hate dealing with the pool chemistry. I'm not a chemist and don't plan to be. I was a bit hesitant at first in purchasing this, but when I read so many positive reviews, I figured I'd give it a try. I'm very glad I did. I started using them a few weeks ago and am now on my second bucket. From what I see, this product really does help maintain your pool's alkalinity and pH levels, keep my pool clear, doesn't sting or burn our eyes or skin, and eliminates the need for other costly corrective chemicals. I hate chemicals and try to keep them at a minimum. Even with this, though, I can't seem to get all my chemistry levels where they should be, but I'm not concerned because the alkalinity and stabilizer is where they should be. I put these in a floating dispenser, one for every 3" chlorine tablet that I place in another floating dispenser weekly. These dissolve quicker than chlorine, but for me, adding these weekly seem to do the job. One bucket, for me last a month. I use 4 at a time weekly in the dispenser for a 26 X 52' round pool under constant daily sunshine. Don't worry about needing to refill over and over again. The only time you need to put in more clear balance tablets is when you add more chlorine tablets. Do not combine the chlorine tablets and the clear balance tablets or they will have a chemical reaction. You can add your chlorine tablets in the chlorinator and the balance tablets in the skimmer, or do as I do and put one in one floater and the other in a separate one. I do this every week and my pool has perfect alkalinity. With this, all the hard work is over and now you can relax and enjoy your perfect pool! I usually buy it at my local wally world, unless they don't have it, then I buy it here. They arrived safely, and unbroken, so I can't complain. Overall, I like using Clear Balance in keeping my pool clear, clean and safe for every day use.

I've been taking care of my own pool for years (pool details below if it helps anyone). Some years are easier/harder than others. I'd get the chlorine right (I like to keep mine around 3ppm), the alkalinity (80-120), and pH (7.2-7.8) and make sure there is also a healthy calcium reading (200-400). I strive for perfection. I try to get 0.0 saturation index on that little wheel. I had always had to periodically raise alkalinity with soda. Last year, my pH kept getting high, and I was often having to put acid in the pool. I decided to give this product a try because it manages both pH and alkalinity and sounded really easy. Almost too easy. I made sure my water was where I wanted it before I started using it. The directions are simple - add one tablet per tablet of chlorine. I put these tablets in my skimmers because I have a chlorinator. After a few months of using it, I have to say...it really works. The pool glistens like liquid glass. Every time I check my pool, pH is around 7.5 and alkalinity is around 90. The chlorine has normal efficacy. Some people say this gets "sudsy". If you have your chemicals right (especially make sure you have enough calcium), this is minimal if at all. I can probably use up to 7 of these tablets a week in the summer, so you'll need more than the 16 that's in there. I wish I could buy more at once or cheaper, but considering they are so easy to use, and I no longer have to use the other chemicals...it is probably a bargain. No measuring, no hazards. Good luck! First of all, these are not chlorine tablets. They are SUPPOSED TO DISSOLVE FAST. Too many reviewers seem to think these will slowly dissolve like chlorine tablets. Not sure where this expectation comes from. My pool suffered from low pH (always lower than 7), cloudiness, and algae. I was adding pH increaser twice a week along with clarifier and algicide weekly just to keep the pool looking good for a few days at a time. Then I found these Clear Balance tabs. The key to their use is to get your clarity, pH and chlorine levels where you want them BEFORE starting to use the Clear Balance tabs. These tabs MAINTAIN the levels. When these arrived I got my levels and clarity where I wanted them, then started placing 1 of these tabs in my skimmer basket once a week (my pool is not that big). Since then I have NOT ADDED PH+ AT ALL. NOT ONCE. I have also not needed to add clarifier nor algicide and I even find that my chlorine levels are more stable than before. It's been 3 weeks since I started using these and the only maintenance I need to do anymore is add 1 tablet to the skimmer basket, vacuum the pool, and have a chlorine tablet in the floating basket. That's it. My levels never held constant for more than a few days before, but with these tabs I am at 3 weeks of spot on levels without adding any of the junk from before. And don't worry they are supposed to dissolve fast. doesn't mean they are all gone and not working, it just means the product is in your water and doing its thing. just read the directions on the bucket. **************************************************************************************************************************************** my only complaint is not with this product but with Amazon itself (hence the 5 stars for the product). they shipped the clear balance in the same box as a food product I had ordered. they didn't bother to tape the bucket lid down so of course there was pool chemical powder all over the food product box. there are high school kids bagging groceries that know better than to put chemicals in the same bag/box as food. Amazon made it right by sending me a new box of the food product, but it should not have happened in the first place.

We have a 14ft pool that we struggled to keep clean last year. It was really discouraging. This year it was hard to find reasonably priced chlorine tablets, but through my search I found these Pool Mate chlorine tabs and Arm & Hammer Clear Balance Alkalinity and PH Maintenance tabs. I put one tab each into my chlorine floater, and my pool has never been cleaner. I never had to deal with the slimey sides and bottom. The tabs last between 1.5 and 2 weeks, and I had just enough of the chlorinating tabs for the whole summer. I know this sounds like a freaking commercial, but I want to save you the time hunting for products that work. These WORK. Update (9/2023): another summer with a perfectly clean pool. For some reason the Clear Balance tabs were dissolving within a couple of days, so I would wait until the chlorine tabs were almost gone and replace them both. The pool didn't have a single issue. 10 out of 10 recommend both kinds of tabs.
