I am 5’ 6” and weigh 140. I bought the small and it fits loose but comfortable and does not interfere with your ability to weld. The sleeves are long enough to cover your wrists. The material is heavy but not overbearing, exactly what I expecting. I feel confident that it will protect my arms, neck and torso from the hot beads. I like that it offers a pocket you access from inside and has pockets on the left sleeve and right side. This is definitely worth the money and the quality leads me to believe that I will have this for years to come. ... show more

I'm a professional welder and have owned several black stallion leather welding jackets and prefer this significantly over that. People report it running large. I wear a large t-shirt and this in large is good if I wear it over just a shirt or some layers like hoodie or insulated flannel. It seems to maybe run a little large but seems just right if you have layers under it. I love the double layers of leather around the cuff, this prevents twisting where the cuff snaps so the shape of the cuff gets weird and makes it hard to pull welding gloves over the cuff. This is my favorite think about this jacket. Also, with other jackets, I have had issues with the leather quality being consistent. Love this jacket ... show more

This is the first welding jacket I've ever bought, and it seemed to do the job quite well. I showered myself with plenty of sparks while using my welder to extract a couple broken exhaust studs from underneath on my old minivan. The leather is nice quality, seems thick and well sewn together. Heck it's a nice looking jacket too. Immediately after unpacking, it definitely has a decently strong smell to it. I'd not call it a horrible smell, but not exactly pleasant either. I hung it up on my screw jack next to my lift at work for a few days and the smell dissipated. I had read that the sizing runs a little on the large side, so I ordered a size small with that in mind, though I typically wear a medium. Small was the right choice. Fitment is very nice for my small build at 5'7" tall. No complaints, I'd recommend it. ... show more

This jacket is heavy, believe me, I'm not exaggerating, but it's worth it for safety reasons. I can weld up close in complete safety. It's a very comprehensive jacket, but its weight makes it difficult to adjust sometimes, but I'll have to get used to it. For obvious reasons, it can't be washed as it's made entirely of leather, so it's best not to get it dirty. ... show more

This is high quality, heavy and thick leather. the fit was perfect on my body - not too baggy, not to tight. quality snaps, etc. I usually dont write reviews, but i Dumbfounded by how quality and cheap this was - it feels like a few hundred dollar jacket

To be clear, I just got this product and haven't used it yet but it feels good and solid. Listen to all the reviews and order a size smaller than normal. I'm 260lbs and have a broad build and the Large is pretty much perfect. It's not loose across the belly when I snap it closed but the shoulders and arms are perfect. I also don't ever snap my jacket closed when I'm welding anyway. Finally comes the smell. Yes, it's there and yes, it will fade. I've never had a leather welding jacket that didn't smell, plus you're unlikely to notice it when you've got your hood down welding or grinding or such.
