Our previous pool heater stopped working, so I picked this Aquastrong heat pump up because we wanted to get the pool usable again without dragging the repair process out forever. This is one of those items where I technically could have tried to handle the install myself, especially since it is a 115V plug-in unit and comes with adapters, but I had our regular pool maintenance guy do it instead. He handles pool cleaning, repairs, and equipment work for us, and I would rather have someone who knows what he is doing make sure the connections, water flow, fittings, and setup are all right the first time. He said the installation was pretty straightforward for this type of unit, and the included hose adapters and conversion pieces helped with getting it connected properly to our pool setup. For something this expensive and important, having a pro install it gave me a lot more peace of mind than guessing my way through it and wondering if I missed something. Once installed, the unit worked well and started doing exactly what we needed it to do, which was get the water back to a comfortable temperature and help keep it there. It is not magic, and a pool heater is still going to work gradually depending on the pool size, starting temperature, weather, and whether you use a cover, but this made a noticeable difference for us. I really like the top-discharge design because it makes placement easier when space around the pool equipment is limited, and it keeps the airflow from being aimed sideways into a wall, fence, or walkway. This bad boy is so amazing! It absolutely is a game changer when it comes to deciding when pool season actually starts and ends! We have a 8000+ gallon above ground swimming pool, and I always drain the pool at the end of the swimming season and cover it for the winter. Then at the beginning of the next swimming season, of course give it a regular routine cleaning and fill it with water. Normally however, we usually don't even take the cover off of the pool and start messing with it until the middle of May. Well since I acquired this contraption, I decided to get an early jump on It. So I uncovered the pool and did my routine cleaning to it and got it filled up with water. Now I have this heater connected to the pool, and we're able to go swimming early. It seems like once I connected the heater and got it going real good, it probably took most of the day and night for it to get the pool up to temperature. Within less than 24 hours the water was plenty warm enough for us to enjoy it. It's actually a fairly quick heating unit, I feel like it work pretty fast and did a really good job. I love how it has the app that you can download and you can hook your heater up to your phone via the app and you can look at your phone to see pretty much whatever data you want to look at concerning your pool and it's temperature and everything. It will tell you your water temperature and basically any other data that you want or need to know. You can use your phone to turn the heater on or off or to set timers for it to turn on or off and there's just all sorts of helpful things that you can do through the app that are really awesome! This heater absolutely helped us to extend our swimming season by a good bit! I feel like if I would have gotten it earlier I could have even extended it a bit longer. But we did get it open a bit early and there's definitely no reason why we shouldn't be able to keep it open at least a month or so later than what we normally do. In my opinion the asking price for this unit is really fair and reasonable! I would absolutely recommend this product to my friends and family!!

1. The pan's drain port is directly on the bottom of the unit and is unprotected. Mine got crushed when placing it on the new concrete slab. Luckily they put an extra in the box. 2. There is a rubber gasket between the heater and the unions for your in and out water feeds. The gasket cannot make a good seal between them because the metal shell of the unit blocks the fittings from sitting flush against the ports. You have PVC unions fighting the metal shell to make contact with the PVC inlet and outlet ports. I used Teflon tape to seal the fittings. 3. There is no protection around the radiator fins. There is a thin plastic net around the unit that offers zero impact protection. It sits very loosely and I don't understand its purpose. How much more would it cost to put a proper metal grate around the unit, ten, twenty dollars? Your central air condenser is protected by metal the heat pump isn't. 4. The fan for the unit is made of plastic. Why? It should be metal. I don't know if there will be any longevity to a plastic blower fan. Luckily the unit is in the shade and won't be getting direct UV sunlight which tends to make plastic brittle after a few years. 5. If you get an E03 error the system drops the voltage for your pump on the P1 lug from 110 to 9 VAC. I don't know why it does this as it prevents you from bypassing the heater to keep the pump running. There is nothing in the owners manual or their website to tell you how to clear this error. I was a bone head and overlooked the flow diagram as I connected my plumbing as if it were still my old Pentair gas heater. The inlet and output ports are reversed. Fixing this cleared the error and restored the 220 VAC for the pump. 6. The FAQ web page for this pump is almost non existent. There are only a few questions answered and most don't apply to the heat pumps that they sell. 7. Setup with the TUYA app is wonky. Trying to get the initial connection to the heat pump was not straight forward. This should be the easiest thing to do. Nope. I don't even remember what I did to get it to connect. 8. Scanning the QR code on the side of the heat pump to chat with support, via WhatsApp, sends you to an empty chat. That is because there is a 12 hr time difference from the east coast (USA) to Hong Kong. The chat is only monitored during Hong Kong's normal business hours (which is my sleeping hours.) That being said if you take pictures and explain the problem they will get back to you. It's not a dead like as I originally thought. Now that it's finally working I'm a bit more content. Cold water is going in and the unit is raising it 10 degrees on the way out.

"Aquastrong 39,001 BTU Top Discharge Inverter Swimming Pool Heat Pump" was installed on a smaller above ground pool and has been running through several weeks of regular use. Setup was straightforward thanks to the included adapters, and being a 115V unit meant there was no need for additional electrical work in my case. The biggest advantage is how quietly it operates. Standing a few feet away, the fan noise is much lower than expected for equipment moving this much heat. The top-discharge design is also helpful when space is limited because there is no large side exhaust to plan around. Performance has been consistent. Using a pool cover overnight, the heater was able to maintain comfortable swimming temperatures without running continuously at full output. The inverter design is noticeable because the unit often settles into a lower operating speed instead of cycling aggressively on and off. The WiFi controls are convenient for checking status remotely, although most of my adjustments are still made directly at the unit. The display is easy to read, and the controls are simple enough that I rarely need the manual. It performs well within its intended range, but anyone expecting instant heating from cold water will need realistic expectations about how heat pumps work.

Customer service was terrible to say the least .did tried contacting them for answer and still ti this day have not heard back from them . I ended up buying a different brand heater .

Update: So after offering me a full refund the company went back on their word. AND the product is defective!! Any time the fan motor kicks on the plug GFI shuts off. I have paid a professional electrician to install everything to code and come back to see the issue and he told me it is an issue within the heater that he cannot fix. But I cannot get assistance from the Aqua strong company. This is total garbage! Original: This is NOT "plug and go". It does NOT use standard 120 volt electricity. The plug does not even fit any type of standard outlet?! I called an electricain and he informed me that this heater REQUIRES a 220 line and the breaker alone is $125 not including trunning the line, adding the outlet and labor costs. So what I thought I was "saving" getting some quick and easy was a total LIE but there is now ay to return a 150# huge heater that is out in my yard at this point!!! Who knows if it will even work??

This pool heat pump honestly turned out to be much more capable and efficient than expected for an inverter-style unit in this price range. The heating performance is surprisingly steady, and it maintains pool temperature much more consistently than older on/off style heaters that constantly cycle. What impressed me most was how quiet it runs compared to traditional pool heat pumps. Even standing near the equipment pad, the top-discharge design and inverter compressor keep noise levels much lower than expected while still moving plenty of heat into the water. The overall build quality also feels much more premium than a lot of budget pool equipment online. The cabinet feels solid, the airflow design is clean, and the WiFi controls actually ended up being genuinely useful instead of gimmicky. Being able to check or adjust temperature remotely makes a bigger difference than expected during changing spring weather. The app setup was straightforward, and the heating/cooling functionality adds flexibility that cheaper single-purpose heaters usually do not offer.
