I saw one of the reviews stated that it is very thin, unlike the photo. On the front of the package it clearly states that you need to heat the material in hot water or with a hairdryer to undo the compression. I used a dryer and it fluffed right up to the 1" thickness. Hate to call out other reviewers, but c'mon - read the directions. I am using this as a layer in my cannister tank. The material was easily cut with scissors. Since adding the media, my tank has been crystal clear, so it definitely does the job. It feels strong enough that I should be able to rinse and reuse it for many times. Definitely a good value for how much you get.

Recently I changed my substrate and started using fluval stratum which can be really dusty. I would switch between using a regular carbon filter and polyfill but my tank always had a little cloudiness to it no matter what I used. So I got this stuff. I’ve never used it or anything like it before so I went in completely blind. I should’ve been using this all along. I bought some new plants so I did some rearranging in my 10 gallon and that kicked up a lot of dust. A square of this in the filter cleared it up in less than 4 hours. I did the same thing to my 3 gallon, put a square of this is the filter and it was clear in 2 hours. I definitely recommend this stuff.

I loathe filter socks. The constant cleaning and bleaching. Yuck. Filter floss is perfect. I create a cardboard template and then use high quality shears to cut to size. Then, I use media holders in lieu of filter socks and run GAC et al. The filter floss does a good job of removing detritus and polishing the water at an inexpensive price point. Nice product.

I like that this comes in a flat pack, air sealed bag. Filter fluffs back up when exposed to air. I like that it isn't cut. Its a long piece from a roll so you can easily cut to your custom size. When I changed my filter the water looked clear in a couple hours. I have no complaints about this filter.

This is a decent length of aquatic filter media. Not really and inch thick, even after using heat as per the instructions. Still clears water good and is easy to cut to size Clogs up quick, rinsed and reused the same potion to have it clog quicker.

This arrived fast, but it's nothing like pictured and described. It's a few inches short of the 70 long. Width is as described, but it is not even quite half an inch thick, let alone a full inch as shown. I'll use it, probably doubled up, because I desperately need to get a crashed pond filtered out. I'll use this for now and order what I usually do. Sometimes you get what little you pay for.
