  • Appear To Be a Great Value: OEM performance at Compatible price
January 22, 2018 I'll start by stating that I have no easy way to verify the performance claims that the manufacturer makes for this filter. The only way I can think of to objectively test it would be to purchase a set of these cartridges and a set of GE OEM FQSVF cartridges, install and initialize both as directed in the filter instructions, take water samples from each and send them to an independent lab for testing and await the results. This would be expensive and take time, so I'm taking it on faith that the NSF certification claims made by AQUACREST are genuine, and that the cartridges filter out the contaminants that NSF says they do. What I can state here in my review is that I have two identical GE kitchen sink filters that use these cartridges, and I bought a set of four cartridges because each of my filters uses two. When I installed them, they twisted and locked into position just like GE OEM cartridges do. I then turned the water supply back on, and ran the filters for five minutes, as directed by GE in the filter user guide. I checked frequently around the filters and on the bottom of the cabinets in which the filters are installed, and there was no evidence of leakage. Water flow through the filters was comparable to what I remember with fresh GE OEM cartridges. Maybe a bit better, actually, since in the past, my GE OEM cartridges have been a bit inconsistent with water flow. Most have worked fine when new, but I've had a few sets that were relatively slow-flow right out of the box. So far, both of sets of AQUACREST cartridges are performing similarly in my filters. The water coming through my AQUACREST cartridges looks nice and clear, and tastes fine, no different from what I remember from fresh GE OEM cartridges. So, at least right out of the box, these AQUACREST cartridges appear to be an excellent value, providing performance comparable to that of GE OEM cartridges, but for just 2/3 the price of GE OEM cartridges. I'm not sure when I last purchased filter cartridges. My records show that the last time I purchased them was over 2 years ago, but that doesn't sound right, because this type of filter cartridge should be replaced at least once a year. It's possible that the last sets were purchased using a gift card or cash. In any case, these AQUACREST cartridges are rated for 900 gallons. I don't have any simple way to measure the quantity of water drawn over the life of the cartridge, so I will just plan to update this review when the flow gets slow enough to demand replacement, which should give some idea of how much life to expect from these cartridges. ... show more

  • Great product
With such high prices for undersink GE FILTERS, I decided to try this brand. The price is very reasonable and when I install it realized it has way better water flow than my original GE. The only thing I noticed was it’s a little bit more noisy when you turn on the faucet, but for that price and water flow I can deal with the noise. Definitely recommend it and will continue to purchase more in the future. ... show more

  • Super easy to install, made my tap taste amazing.
Lasted forever, and made my gross tap water taste no different from that of a clean water spring. Loved it very much, would buy again. Easy to install as well!

  • Better than buying GE
Good value for the money - haven't tested the filtration quality but it seems to be a good value for the money.

  • Worth. Same or better taste than overly expensive GE brand
I would buy again. I purchased GE brand when it was $51 and it is now almost $80. The water taste the same or better than GE. Makes it an actual no brainer

  • Does NOT really filter the water
This filter claims to be compatible with GE FQK2J filter. It is NOT. The GE FQK2J filter is NSF certified to meet NSF/ANSI standards 42, 53, and 401. 42 only covers flavor. The important standards are 53 and 401, which cover about a hundred harmful metals and chemicals. The documentation that comes with this filter does NOT claim that it meets any part of NSF/ANSI standard 53 or 401. The AquaCrest web site, also, does NOT claim that this filter meets any part of NSF/ANSI standard 53 or 401. It does NOT claim to reduce lead, or any of about a hundred of cancer- and disease- causing chemicals. Never mind any certification or testing. They do not even make the unsubstantiated claim. After reading the docs that came with this filter, I just put this product in the trash. It isn't even worth my time to return. I won't buy this trash again. ... show more
