I was surprised at how compact and light this is. I knew it was marketed as a sort of middle ground between the Survival tarp and the Defender, so I was expecting it to be somewhat heavy, but It's incredibly light and easily fits into my backpack. I thought I was going to have to cram it in! The camouflage is a nice, dull, dark, matte color, which is exactly what I wanted, so again, perfect for my purposes. It doesn't catch the eye and looks natural. It's also sufficiently waterproof. Overall, I'm very happy with it.

Great tarp. Perfect for shelter when on a camping trip. Perhaps a bit bulkier than some would like but acceptable tradeoff given how much cover there is underneath. Highly recommend.

I bought this for backpacking and I'm blown away by the quality of this tarp. There are more tie offs than you will ever need and you can use this in any configuration imaginable. Even more important, this will not saturate with water at all. Completely waterproof and really durable. I loved the first one I bought so much, I had to have a second one. I know it sounds crazy, but when I find something I really like, I buy two in case it becomes discontinued or they change the design. It's a little heavy for a thru hiker at 2.4 lbs, but if you're a casual backpacker, this is worth the weight and it won't disappoint.

I have had this Tarp for quite some and until recently have not had the occasion to make use of it. So imagine my surprise when I finally do set it up for short weekend camp out as shelter for My Hammock setup. I configure it as an Open A Frame cover, several feet off the ground using the Tarp Loops on a Ridgeline. It looks Great, nice and taught. As I am lying in my Hammock looking up and admiring the Tarp I notice that I do not see the familiar Grid Pattern of (Rip Stop) Fabric as some light from above is coming through. Ok, so giving the benefit of doubt maybe I think it's (Micro Rip Stop), or the Woodland Cammo Pattern is making it hard to see? No such Luck, this darn thing is not 70D (Rip Stop) as in the Product Description. I feel as if I have been Misled and I am extremely Disappointed, what a Miss on this One. Review Update: 6/2/2018 I am changing My Rating from two Stars to five Stars. The reason I am doing this for the following reasons: First and foremost, because since My last Review I have had the occasion to make contact with a Representative from Aquaquest directly through Their Website. This very nice Person has made every effort to resolve my original issue of the earlier product description stating that Camo Safari Tarp is constructed with a 70 Denier Ripstop Nylon Fabric, which it clearly is not. This does not mean that is inferior to the other Safari Tarps which are. The proof of this in the Defender Series Tarps which have a ' Legendary Track Record ' of performance, and they are constructed without a Ripstop Fabric. I have more recently had the opportunity to use My Camo Safari Tarp on several outings, in some pretty harsh weather, with heavy rain and very high winds, and the Camo Safari Tarp just shrugged it off without even a whimper. Reason number two, as I mentioned before, as a result of my correspondence with the Very Nice Aquaquest Representative, of Whom then contacted this Amazon Distributor of Their Aquest Tarps. Together some kind of arrangement was reached, by which I was able to aquier the Safari Tarp I was originally intending to purchase. I am now the proud owner of the Olive Drab Safari Tarp, with the Nylon Ripstop Fabric, and I could not be Happier. Kudos, to the Awesome Folks at Aquaquest for their Great Products, and even Greater Customer Service. Also a Big Thumbs Up to Amazon and Their Partners, for bringing such a Incredible Variety of Great Products to Market.

I've had it for 1 year now. Light weight, compact, durable, easy to use.... Love it! Love it! Love it!!! The center seam is not waterproof when water is running across it (lengthwise). Found that out at a Scout campout in March when we had an all night downpour. Even with that setup, it dripped some.....it's not like I got drenched on anything. Just a little wet on the top of the tent. I would say it is best to use the center seam as your apex and you will be fine. Would I buy it again? ABSOLUTELY! Just might go with the Guide (the little brother) next time. It's even lighter. :)

loops well constructed and attached. Material good, light, waterproof but has durability. An improvement would have been some reinforcement patched material in those certain areas of tarp where a pole or other support would be placed. But just use extra socks or some other soft material for pole tip. I carry old, slot cut tennis ball in the tarp bag for pole tip to protect tarp material from wear or puncture.

I initially wondered how the sewn in loops would work for my different applications, but after a two week cross country motorcycle trip I have decided they are much better than grommets for stakes, poles, and ropes. The camo design is a quality pattern. You definitely will not be able to use this tarp for signaling rescue personnel in the air, but if you want to be unobtrusive at camp or get off the grid this will do the trick. If you need a large, lightweight, sturdy, and waterproof tarp this is recommended.

You really cant go wrong with these tarps. They're solid, well built and hold up in wind and rough storms nicely. If you're looking for a nice tarp for outdoor adventures this should be the one you choose.
