No. It utilizes the Matter over Thread networking protocol and requires a compatible Matter-and-Thread-enabled hub for network integration. Note: Each hub works only with its own app. Example: Apple Home Key requires the Home app and Apple hubs. Why can't my U300 pair with the app (non-Aqara app)? Check the following: • Use a Matter-over-Thread hub; • Enable IPv6 on your Wi-Fi; • Phone and hub on the same Wi-Fi; • Bluetooth turned on; • Lock within 5 m of the hub with no obstruction; • Press the Set button before pairing; Can the handle of the Aqara U300 be reversed? How do I know if this will fit my door? The lock fits doors with a 2 3/8" or 2 3/4" (60–70mm) backset, 1 3/8"–2 11/64" (35–55mm) thickness, and a 2 1/8" (54mm) hole. If your door has two boreholes (typically for separate deadbolt and handle), a deadbolt-style lock may be more suitable. Can the Aqara U300 be used on outdoor doors? Quality build of this product is very good. Was wanting a smart lock going from garage into house and I kept looking at this one and finally decided to purchase it. Received the item very quickly. Price could be better, there are cheaper ones out there but I wanted one that would connect to HomeKit and reviews on Aqara were positive. Install is straight forward, but they have an install video online if you need to reference which is nice. Out of box the handles were opposite of what I needed but changing them was very easy. Connecting to the Aqara app was very easy but if you are wanting to use all the features you will need a hub. Connecting to HomeKit was very easy with Matter. Finger print scanner is hit and miss with me but my fiancé has no issues must just be me, LOL. I use my Apple Watch with home key to unlock which is very slick and nice. I had a Eufy C33 on my front door. We had several issues with it: the keypad was dark, and you had to repeatedly hit the pad to get the numbers to show and the fingerprint detector did not work most of the time. I ordered the Aqara since it works with Matter, and I have Home Assistant currently running. Installation was a breeze. I even commented to my wife how there was no "Oh crap" moment that dragged out the install. I connected my to Home Assistant and integration was also straightforward. The keypad is easier to see, and the fingerprint reader has been 100% so far. I do like that it has a speaker, and there are some times where it will say something verbally which i think is good. Also, it only uses 4 batteries versus 8 for the C33. I like this lock, and will likely switch over my other doors to this. ... show more

    • Awesome, but here’s the thing…

Perfect? No, but really good and no regrets. HomeKit- I use HomeKit to connect with it. It paired super easy, works great. However, HomeKit means I have to confirm I want it to unlock or lock when leaving and coming. So it’s a tap of a watch, not a big deal. Not this company’s fault either. Fingerprint- spoiled by phones it’s not a single hit each time. Generally it’s fine though. Sometimes once, sometimes a few times of my hands are a little grimy. Not had to use it often, but sometimes I walk out and forget my phone to unlock it. So it’s cool to have multiple options. Keypad- yeah, works perfect lol. Additional goodies - I love, LOVE that I can set a profile up for someone to use fingerprint to let them in, but reserve the option to delete it without having to worry about a key or changing the keypad number. Just delete their profile and done lol. Second is notifications of locking. It’s a little thing, but that extra security makes me feel better. Calibrating to your door, which I didn’t expect. My door closes firm and securely where it never really did before. Not sure what black magic happened to make it work perfectly, but there you go. Why 4 stars? Well, when you close the door, it’s super easy for your hand to hit the keypad and lock it behind you by accident. It is the sole thing that annoys me most about this that isn’t just HomeKit stuff. Am I advising you buy one? Yes, very worth it to skip deadbolts, built like a tank, good on batteries, easy to connect, no third party bloat really, and it’s been rock solid for months. ... show more

Update 5/26/26 - first lock started falling apart on day 25. Tried working with support but that was very slow, days between responses. I got to day 29 and pulled the trigger on an exchange so I didn’t lose my window. The lock handle got loose and I was asked to take apart the lock and tighten screws. I’m concerned that 25 days of daily use caused this. I’ll report back on the exchange and see if it holds up. Knocking off a star for now, but if it’s a fluke I’ll update it. Love the lock so far. Love how easy it is to change the batteries. Some of our smart handles are obnoxious with battery changes. I’ll happily trade off some aesthetics for function there. Connectivity is fantastic, no issues. Will be upgraded my other interior door handles to this also. ... show more

I am a software engineer; I make apps for mobile devices. This lock is typical for almost all smart devices made for the home. Aquara does very little QA (Quality Assurance; testing). I could not connect this lock to an Apple TV, which is a Matter hub. I have other Matter devices in my home that connect successfully to an Apple TV. Error: "There are no Matter hubs in your home." I even moved the Apple TV within 2 feet of the lock. So most of the features and settings advertised are not available. This lock also would not stay connected to Apple Home app. Error: "Accessory not responding". The installation instructions are horrendous and are missing several steps in order to successfully install this lock. This lock will be returned which means I must uninstall this lock and reinstall the previous lock. Aquara is greedy sending out a device that isn't ready for sale which is typical of manufacturers of smart devices. ... show more

Great lock! Replaced a lever lock my home security provider no longer makes. It unlocks in way more convient ways than my previous lock. It connects with my Homey Pro and Apple Home. Adding users was super easy in both the Aqara app and Apple Home.

Very heavy duty build quality. Extremely well made with a satisfying feel to the lever mechanism. Flexible installation options and great integration to Apple HomeKit without the need for an Aqara hub. I just use a HomePod mini as the thread hub. Many options to unlock: physical key, fingerprint, number pad, Apple Home app (from anywhere), phone proximity, Apple Watch proximity.
