A 'Renewed' Apple MacBook Air indicates it has been pre-owned but has been refurbished and tested to work and look like new. It involves thorough inspection, cleaning, and repair processes to meet Apple's high standards. Essentially, it's a great way to get a quality laptop at a lower price, with the assurance that it functions as expected.

The MacBook Air MD711LL/A comes with 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. While upgrading the SSD is possible since it's not soldered to the motherboard, upgrading the RAM is not as the memory is soldered onto the board directly. For upgrades, it's recommended to consult with a professional or refer to Apple's support for compatible SSD options.

Yes, the MacBook Air MD711LL/A is an excellent choice for students. Its lightweight design (11.6-inch), combined with a powerful Intel Core i5 processor and solid-state drive (SSD), makes it perfect for handling everyday tasks such as web browsing, document editing, and media consumption. • Chromebook Killer
Even at 7 years old, if you are an Apple user, this will be better than virtually any Chromebook under $500. I do not sync photos, since they take up a large portion, but I love being able to use iMessage, FaceTime, and the same interface as other Apple products. It is still able to receive updates, and is easy to travel with. I upgraded to Big Sur, which has run well. Mine came with minor scratches and some wear, but overall looks really good. They did provide a new apple MagSafe charger, which is appreciated. All keys worked and are clean, the hinge is decent, and the screen was in perfect condition. The battery life was horrible, so I picked up a replacement at a local store after the one from Amazon never showed. You can get a replacement from reputable third-parties for under $100, that should give several years of additional life to this netbook. I paid only $35 for mine locally. The new battery lasts for about 7 hours for streaming and moderate use, that is not bad! I also purchased thermal paste and updated the paste in the Air, which helped with cooling. I have a MacBook Pro M1 but don't like traveling with it for work (working in schools often yields more wear and tear). This Air is perfect to throw into a case and use for meetings and light tasks on the go. Even between the two, if you are using it mainly for checking emails, writing up documents, etc., the average user will see very little difference in performance. This is not made for gaming, but it can run older computer games without issue, albeit a little hot. If you can get this for $150-200, that is a good deal. I was surprised with an 8gb memory model. If you can find an 8gb memory model, replace the battery, and redo the thermal paste (iFixit has great tutorials), you will likely get 3-5 more years out of this laptop without issue! ... show more

  • Nice little computer
Have only had it for few hours but I can tell it is almost like new. They even sent a brand new charger. The battery doesn't stay charge for long But that is not an issue with me. It is running on OS 11.6 and can be upgraded if needed. Great value for a MacBook. I do recommend getting Asurion insurance. The last macbook I got crapped out after 3 weeks and they refunded the money. Stress free when buying a refurbished ... show more

  • READ!! Stolen or Not completely theirs - Also very damaged.
The computer arrived and seemed in good shape, but after thorough review problems started to arise. Screen was damaged, bottom cover was loose, screws too tight that damaged cased and battery lasted around 1.5 hours. But that’s only the tip of the iceberg. When I set it up, I got a message saying that “null” had remote management access, I thought it was an old user thing, skipped the step and moved on. Some hours later I formatted it, as I could not remove an user from there, and after doing so I got a message saying “This computer belongs to the Lexington school district”, and it clarified they had access to all the info, internet traffic, and right and access to edit or delete my files. I googled and turned out that is a setting of computers sold to companies. This cannot be undone by the user as apple checks the computer with its servers and detects its on the remote management list. Now you may think because of the amount of positive reviews, that I got a bad one, but your chances are 8 out of 10 of getting a good one, but it’s not like that. It’s not that most people got a good one, it’s that most people don’t know they have a bad one... and they won’t know until they completely format it, which the average user doesn’t do. If you bypass the message on first setup, you ,say continue to use it without knowing the computer belongs to an organization and they can monitor it, block it, erase it whenever they want. If you are ok with that, on top of it being a severely damaged computer, go for it, but please bare in mind that the amount of positive reviews is more of a consequence of user unawareness than of quality products. If you google “remote management MacBook” you will find out more about this. STAY AWAY. The fact that they are backed by Amazon means nothing, as I talked to Amazon customer service and they were quick to say they had nothing to do with the process of the product, they just select some sellers. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU DONT WANT TO END UP WITH GOODS OF QUESTIONABLE ORIGIN IN YOUR HANDS. ... show more

  • Computer is great! Okay quality and does the job!
This computer is great for it's price everything is fully functional and it's up to date and works as it is intended to. The only complaint I have is that the batter has had 802 cycles and it has caused the battery to not have as good of a battery life. But other than that the computer is a great find and I can't wait to use it for the long run. ... show more
