  • Got This Before The Price Hike
Style: Wi-Fi Size: 512GB Color: Silver Set name: Standard Glass Configuration: Without Apple Pencil
I felt a little lucky getting this. I bought it as soon as Apple announced its price hike, while the prices were still at the previous prices on Amazon. A day later, it was $200 more. The cost of this M5 was cheaper than an M4 refurbished from Apple, so it was a no-brainer purchase for me. I come to this review having previously owned the 1st-gen iPad Pro and the M1 iPad Pro. I use mine every day, so I was bound to upgrade to some version in the future, which happens to be this M5. The leap from M1 to M5 didn't seem too big of a jump. Immediate impressions were that it felt a little faster and a little lighter. I won't go into specs, as you can look them up. Basically: more memory and faster. I will go into the tiny details that may affect you: — HDR — The HDR on the M1 was kind of amazing at first. I never got the brightest whites and the darkest blacks before, and it impressed me. However, I always thought the range was a little extreme. The HDR on the M5 is still extreme, but the brightness has been toned back to be more natural. It's still bright, but not so much where it's distracting. — PHOTOS APP — The Spatial Scene feature seems to be faster, and the quality of the image behind an object seems to be more accurate, versus a general blurriness. — SAFARI — Safari is much faster to navigate as pages load up nearly instantly. I browse and read a lot, so sometimes the browser has to catch up to me. This is no longer the case, as nearly every site loads almost instantaneously. — IOS — I'm starting to like the windowing more and more as I'm able to adjust my app sizes to my workflow and preferences. This iteration seems to be smarter and does what I'm thinking as I'm resizing and positioning windows, and also remembering my settings. I could connect this to a monitor to extend it, but I have yet to try that, and this version might be powerful enough to convince me to do it. — PROTECT YOUR IPAD — As soon as I got my iPad, I applied a glass screen protector and a durable clear back case, both from JETech. I'm a minimalist guy, and this is enough protection to give me peace of mind. I had a previous incident where I dropped my phone about four inches from the iPad 1st-gen, and it ruined it completely. I have now learned my lesson and never leave my screen facing up, along with switching from plastic protection to glass protection. — SUMMARY — Overall, I use my iPad every day, all the time. Not my phone, not my laptop, but my iPad Pro. Unless you have an M1 or older, I don't think you necessarily need to upgrade. But I am happy with my purchase, especially at their previous prices. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Stunning
Style: Wi-Fi Size: 256GB Color: Space Black Set name: Standard Glass Configuration: Without Apple Pencil
I replaced a 2024 M2 iPad Air 11" which is already an impressive device. Did I need to upgrade? Nope. Did I have $1300 (I bought the Smart Folio case from Apple to go with it) laying around...not really (love the Prime card 12 months 0% financing). Do I regret my impulse purchase? I REGRET NOTHING. The dimensions are stunning, especially sans case. This has, almost exactly, the same length and width as the standard 8.5" x 11" piece of paper we're all familiar with. And it's about as thick as 50 of those pieces of paper. Think about that. It's a computer and a 13" screen in a form factor the size of a notebook that weighs about as much as a half liter plastic bottle of water. This is simply an insane piece of technology. I am 53 this year. If you had shown this to me when I was a child, I would have thought this was an alien artifact smuggled out of Area 51. It is that impressive. The screen is the star of the show. It's just...breathtaking is a stupid thing to say about something like this but it absolutely applies. The contrast, resolution, colors and 'pro motion' (120Hz refresh rate) make it the nicest screen in my house. Yes you can get a TV that looks as good as this, but I don't have one even though I love my Q70 Samsung. The audio that comes out of something this flat is pretty wild too. My primary work station is a 15" M3 MacBook Air. These speakers are better than that (so is the screen, not close. And yes I know I'm comparing an Air laptop with a Pro iPad but that's my frame of reference. Holding this in one hand, unsupported, will induce some fatigue relatively quickly. If you're using two hands, you can tote this thing all day but it becomes somewhat difficult to utilize the touchscreen effectively that way, in my experience. In terms of performance, I don't do anything on it that taxes it but it feels snappier than the iPad Air it replaced but this could just be the Pro Motion experience. There is a lot of horsepower here and whatever you do on a tablet this thing will laugh at. I would love to have had the money to splurge for the 1TB model with the 16G of RAM (12 in the 256/512 models) and the nanotexture glass (what is this? No idea but I'd like it, I think). For me 256G local storage is more than fine and the $650 difference from here to 1TB, even with the extra features, could in no way be justified on what was already a luxury purchase. Battery life is fantastic. It's better than my 11" Air which was already fine. Again my primary 'work' station is a MacBook Air so I'm not on this thing 9 hours a day but I could use it 2-3 days without a charge. The charger I use is the 35w dual USB-C that came with the 15" MacBook Air and it is lightning fast...getting this back to 80% from 50% in less than an hour. ... show more

  • I am shocked how much performance is packed into this iPad Pro 13 with the M5 chip
Style: Wi-Fi Size: 512GB Color: Space Black Set name: Standard Glass Configuration: Without Apple Pencil
I've been using Apple projects since around 2009 and being an IT guy, a lot of my Apple equipment was work supplied. I've had numerous Mac Pros, Macbook Pros, iPads, and iPad Pros, along with other accessories like watches and AirPods. What I can say about Apple products is they usually last a good long while. Out of everything I've had, I've only had an iMac conk out, and a pair of AirPod Pros that have annoying static (known defect). Pretty much everything else has ran until the software support was EOL, and then you upgrade at some point because you want some newer features or better battery life. Let's talk about the Ipad Pro 13 with the M5 chip. I will lay out the exact use case for this tablet and my thoughts after using it for the past few weeks. My primary use case was to run Shapr 3D which is a design software. I have been using Fusion 360 and wanted to try something more portable, and when paired with the Apple Pencil Pro, it brings an entire new experience to parts design. Instead of sitting in my office, I can be out in the shop, or lounging in my recliner while still being productive. The iPad Pro 13 has met all of my expectations. So, what was I expecting? 1. Performance. 2. Battery Life. 3. Rendering. 4. Thermal Management. 5. Portability. It nails all of these for me. It has worked very well running Shapr 3D, and the Apple Pencil Pro integration is very cool. It's literally shocking a device that weighs this little can perform this well. It has enabled an entire new style of workflow and IMO, has helped with my creativity. It's not flawless and there are things I prefer on a desktop computer with Fusion 360, but 90% of what I do can be accomplished on this iPad Pro. I paired this with the aforementioned Apple Pencil Pro, but I also am running an EZ-GLAZ screen protector, and the ESR Portrait/Landscape case/stand which works well for the design work I do. If you need a powerhouse of an iPad, understand the pros and cons of a tablet device, or have a similar use case of mine where you want to use it for legitimate design work, all I can say is I think you'll love it. Update July 2026: This has been a great addition. I’ve been using this a lot for design work. It’s almost fun! Battery life and performance continue to impress. The only thing I’ve had go wrong was the tip of my Apple Pencil Pro got damaged. Thankfully tips are cheap! My Best Buy of 2026! Helping me turn ideas into reality. ... show more

  • It's an Apple iPad. What more can be said?
Style: Wi-Fi Size: 512GB Color: Silver Set name: Standard Glass Configuration: Without Apple Pencil
The 13" model is the way to go unless you travel. The 11" or mini might be a better option. This unit is mainly used to watch videos streamed from the Internet. It has the latest WiFi 7 (which includes MLO). It has been super stable with the ASUS ZenWIFI BQ16 Pro MESH router. It connects using MLO and speed is never an issue. The battery life is amazing. It can run a long time without needing to be recharged. I use a non-Apple power bank to charge it. It charges very quickly. There are better deals on other brands. Most apps have an IOS version. Apple supports its products for a long time. They do not force you to upgrade every couple of years to keep the device working. We did go with the base screen. There will be glare if you are in a room with sunlight or bright lights. Seeing the image on the screen is not an issue. ... show more

  • Excellent design, colors, keypad and touch screen iPad
Style: Wi-Fi Size: 512GB Color: Space Black Set name: Standard Glass Configuration: Without Apple Pencil
I'm still learning its capabilities including using the special pencil. The touch screen is outstanding including the larger screen size making reading email easy, less strain on my eyes. Swimping to various topics is great. Not too slim (preferred) very sturdy, easy to carry. The chargng cord is really nice, flexibe, less weight, easy to plug into iPad and chrager. Battery life is fine, charges quickly. color is attractive. This is a perfect example of Apple's incredible attention to detail. My only complaint is that the printed booklet has more thorough instructions, i.e. like how to use the pencil and type setting is too small...needs to be larger and bolder. Price is very fair.Excellent ... show more

  • iBought, iPad, iGot the tee shirt
Style: Wi-Fi Size: 1TB Color: Space Black Set name: Standard Glass Configuration: Without Apple Pencil
This review is for Apple iPad Pro 13-inch (M5): Ultra Retina XDR Display, 1TB, Landscape 12MP Front Camera/12MP Back Camera, LiDAR Scanner, Wi-Fi 7 with Apple N1, Face ID, All-Day Battery Life — Space Black. This item arrived on time and in great condition. I had to go through the item setup procedures, but it went fairly quickly because it got the old data from the previous iPad through the icloud backup. It took about a day to get all the apps installed, even though it brought them over from the backup. However, I think the problem with that was possibly an outage in our home internet because the next morning when several of the apps had not yet installed, I cycle the internet connection and then they started installing very quickly. Of course you have to sign in to all of them again because the sign in info apparently was not saved. But all of these things are the normal installation procedures that you would have to go through each time you get a new device. My wife is very happy with the 13 in screen and there is a little learning curve about how you navigate the device. Things are a little different from the old device. But once you catch on to the logic, it works great. So, very pleased with the product. ... show more
