This is a water conditioner, does it's job (I CAN still see water scale, but I can wipe the scale easily after using the conditioner), if you are expecting more than that, you will ALSO want to buy the whole house water filter system.

I finally selected this unit above all of the others after much much research. The units were easy enough to install. We have copper plumbing, so it was a matter of cutting the pipe where I was putting the canisters and using "shark bite" connectors (look them up on Amazon if you don't know what they are) and followed the directions. It's just nice to know that there is a couple less chemicals that we are ingesting into our bodies and the water is now more pure than the bottles. I also like the fact that this unit does not have a pre-filter that I have to remember to change every 6 months. This one does an automatic backwash (just regular water, not salt) every week so everything is automatic until media has to be changed in about 7 years. Not sure how much of a benefit the water "softener" is but it is supposed to keep the minerals in the water from attaching to the dish & clothes washers, hot water tank and pipes. It will not keep you shower glass cleaner but it also doesn't have the salt that it backwashed into our sewers and the slimy feel of the salt softeners. So far we are VERY satisfied with the unit. ... show more

I have been using this for a year now, I have a very small house and got the whole house system. With installation it cost >$2000 and results are still very hard water - I contacted the company after a few months but they refused to help and maintain that their useless product does work. Now I am about to spend another $2000 to replace it with a salt one from a different company that actually works. Clearly this is a key component that unfortunately you can't do without. So far, I'm very pleased with this product. The water taste much better when compared to my old tap water. After having tasted this water, I tasted the tap water at my kitchen faucet; I had to spit out the tap water. The green guck that use to appear on my facets has disappeared. So far so good. It was a full day of plumbing for my husband to get it installed but the water feels nice and we hopefully will not get so much hard water build up now. It has only been a few weeks!

I have had this water softener for over a year now and it has not done anything for our water. We have a well and the water is slightly hard but not terrible. I was hoping this softener would take the hardness down and reduce calcium build up. Unfortunately I have not seen any reduction at all. We still have the same build up in showers, faucets and on the refrigerator water dispenser. I would not recommend this product. ... show more

Our water was so hard, I could have poured it into a sock and bludgeoned someone with it. That is no longer a problem. The install was far easier than I expected, and the water no longer stains out sinks and shower.
