    • It got me home when my alternator and wiring had a meltdown!
Size: 100w-kit
I've had this for a couple of years now and I use it on my man cave shed and also on top of my pick up topper when I go on camping trips. It has worked terrific for my needs - even on days when its mostly cloudy. Excellent product! It allowed me to charge my pick up batteries enough to make it home 900 miles (about 60 miles at a time) from where my wiring harness and alternator had a meltdown in Wyoming last year . ... show more

    • Very satisfied
Size: 100w-kit
As a budget starter kit this works great. Out of the box the solar panel and charge controller were easy to connect together. As every battery type is different, you made need additional hardware depending on what terminals are on yours. In my case, I have a lead acid car battery with half inch terminals. To connect them I used a pair of basic terminal busses. Other than the terminal busses which are specific to your battery, the kit contains all necessary cables and fittings to connect the components to each other and a battery. Once connected to the battery, the charge controller screen lights up. Then when the panel is connected and in sunlight the battery begins charging. Rooftop installation hardware is straight forward to install and seems quite durable. With an 800W inverter I purchased separately, I can now power my work shed off grid with this kit. I'm planning to buy a second one of these kits and expand both to 300W each, which will allow for backup home power during outages. ... show more

    • Are you sure about solar for your new garage?
Size: 100w-kit
The panel and all that came with it appear sturdy and was easy enough to mount. I've taken one star off as the controller directions are a little sparse and there is not a lot on Youtube talking about controllers (Scott seems knowledgeable.) My plan was to use the panel to charge a battery and plug my 1/2 hp garage door opener (60w) into an inverter. Therein lies the rub. Reddit is in my inbox all the time and a question came in about doing a similar setup. The poster wanted to know why his battery was always draining despite minimal use. An informed answer said the inverter never sleeps. Even on standby, it's using 10 to 20 watts, 24 hours a day. So, at most - even with full sun - I could go a few days before the battery is drained. (And it may have drained beyond repair.) If I got a bigger battery(100ah), that might go a week before needing to plug in a charger for 15 hours or so. Unless I can find a timer for the inverter, solar isn't going to work in my application. I'll probably end up using the panel with a solar generator. As for the garage door opener, I've run an extension cord the 75' distance from my house; we'll get quotes from electricians. ... show more

    • Good product, great service
Size: 100w-kit
I bought the kit for my newly built barn, so I don’t have to run the electric power lines from my home panel to the barn for occasional lighting. As I installed I realized the controller was light and turned off within a hour but could not get the screen lit up again. I contacted the customer service, they sent me a much better controller immediately (no questions asked). I was able to replace the controller with no issues since. Highly recommend the vendor, not only the best price but the great service! ... show more

    • Poor performance and poor support
Size: 100w-kit
I Made the mistake of not testing this till after the 30 day prime return window closed. On the initial use it too almost 2 hours in direct sunlight to start charging above 4 watts. Once it did start I could never get above 80 watts with no obstructions on a 100 watt panel, angled toward the sun and in 100% direct sunlight. At 80 watts max charge it immediately dropped to 30 when just the shadow of my hand passed over it. With an 8”x8” cloth on the corner it dropped all the way to 3 watts (basically not charging). When I contacted support they asked for videos but won’t accept the video type from my IPhone and have a small file size limit. I asked for an email address to send the videos to and was ignored. When I questioned the max 80% charge and the fact that a shadow on a very small part of the panel renders it useless they just gave me a stock response saying the efficiency depends on the amount of sunlight. Just so you understand, it was a cloudless sunny day in southern Nevada in the open so you don’t get much more sun than that. I had planned to add a second panel and now will end up buying 2 from someone else. If you choose to buy this brand, TEST IT THE DAY IT ARRIVES so you have time to return it if you have the same poor performance I got. The customer service is terrible and useless. ... show more
