My car had a check engine light come on and this tool allowed me to diagnose and repair it for a fraction of what the dealer would charge! A simple 20$ part and they were asking 900$ for the service! Everyone should have a tool like this available to check error codes. Saved me a ton of money!!!

    • Manual is weak.
The scanner is great! It’s very easy to use, even without the manual. However, the scan tool provides a lot of information with a lot of abbreviations that are not spelled out. I thought the manual should provide more information on the scan results but it pretty much just shows what appears on the scan tool screen. This probably wouldn’t be a problem for someone more experienced but I was hoping to find the information in the manual instead of having to look elsewhere. ... show more

Does a good job, plug it in and you get a quick status of info from your vehicle. Haven't gone deeper yet but I am sure it will work.

    • Informative and well-built diagnostic tool
This is my first OBD2 scanner, so take my review with a grain of salt. With that said, I really liked this scanner. Here are my pros and cons. PROS: * Build quality: Sturdy housing with easy to grip housing. Cable and connector are sturdy and robust as well. * User Interface: * Color screen that's easy to read. You have the option to select a white or black background. * Buttons that are large and easy to manipulate. Buttons provide tactile and audible feedback when they've been pushed. * Menu navigation is easy to do with the large arrow buttons and the square that appears around the selected icon. * Function icons, titles, and descriptions are MOSTLY intuitive with a few minor exceptions. * Quick access buttons to jump right to trouble codes, system tests, and battery voltage. * Diagnostic capabilities: Again, this is my first scanner, but I was impressed with the large variety of scan/test capabilities this device offers. It can tell you things as diverse as how many times an individual piston misfires to whether your gas cap is sealing properly. It includes "mode 6" and "mode 8" scanning capabilities. I didn't know what these were, but a quick google search indicated that these are advanced scanning capabilities that appear on premium scanners. I didn't use the scanner with the engine running, so I don't think I saw the full capabilities of mode 8. Apparently, some mode 8 scanners can actually send commands to the car (i.e. "turn on the fuel pump" and things of that nature). I am not sure if this scanner has that capability or or can only RECEIVE information from the car. * Download capabilities: If you want to capture your car's performance parameters, this scanner has a "cloudprint" capability that can transfer the parameters to your phone via a QR code. The QR code image is pretty dense and at first, I thought my phone would not read it, but after a few seconds, it did and I was able to see a web page with all the measured parameters. From there, the information can be saved as a screenshot or printed, depending on your phone's capabilities. * Built-in trouble code library. Enter in the code number and the scanner will provide a short description of the problem. * Runs entirely off car power. As long as your car battery isn't dead (which is an obvious problem not worthy of a scanner), this device will work. No need to keep any batteries on hand to power the scanner. CONS: * Sometimes you'll be prompted with a Yes or No question. At least with the dark background mode I was in, there is no way to tell whether you're saying yes or no. It would be nice if they drew a red box around your selection like they do in the higher level menus. * No name brand device. If the seller stops selling this product on Amazon, you may be hardpressed to get after sales support. ... show more

I have had several obd2 readers in my life. Some costing me several hundred dollars. This cheap little thing does not seam like much, and at the price point i just toss it in my glovebox in case it is needed on the go. It absolutely does what is needed, and rather well at that. I just feel like it is a bit cheaply made, and i will probably break it within a year or two. But for the price I'm happy with a year or two of good use. ... show more
