This is a GREAT air conditioner. Got it installed and turned it on. It was very quiet and was throwing out VERY cold air ! Set the temp at 72 and went back downstairs for a few hours. My wife went upstairs and said it was freezing up there !! Turned the temp up a bit, and noticed that it had cooled my ENTIRE UPSTAIRS. This is a very nice machine and I give it 5 Stars. I would buy it again. Also, it comes with a very nice remote control. It is easy to install and well worth the money. Don't be afraid to buy this one !! ... show more

    • Not very good
down to 1 star because the unit can produce cold air and isn't too loud. Problems with smell and AC controls. Changes temperature by itself for no reason. I put it on 66 so it won't stink, and it changes the temperature on its own to 72 then switches to fan and starts producing a mold smell. Second update: The remote is fairly unresponsive, takes it a few seconds to register command to the unit. Also when I push power on, unit does not remember the last command and resets at 72F. The problem with 72F is it often is on fan only so the bad smell comes in. I manually pushed it to go down in temperature and the physical buttons on the AC did not work, so I had to use the remote to change the temperature down. Update: One problem I'm having is around 72-76F temperature settings the unit smells bad, musky. Since the unit is new and no smells are in my room or outside, I'm assuming it's because of water not evaporated or something like that. I read some units are using more aluminum instead of copper which can allow more bacteria. Either way I'm not sure, but new out of the box the unit at higher temperatures produces bad smells. Pros: This unit is not too loud, I've tried a Midea unit and the Midea is quiet, and this unit is quiet or maybe slightly louder but has a quiet mode that is probably around 40db give or take. I've also tried the standard $150 small window unit and it is very loud so I put it in an area where the volume doesn't matter. Cons: The screws you extend on the outside for support are a bit on the flimsy side relative to the weight of the unit. I'm setting some weight on top of the inside portion in order to balance it out a bit and keep the screws from almost bending from the weight. A picky thing that doesn't really matter: unit does not seem to come with a piece of insulation to shove in the top window crack. Information: So my window only opens to about 13" or so. I have a fold out style window, so I really went nuts and disassembled part of the window in order to get this unit in. So by taking out the bottom glass, and taking out the screens, I was able to get like a 13.5" opening which just barely fit this unit through. So just be aware that if you have a smaller window and might try to fold the U shaped unit through, it can be tricky and you can't get much extra space even utilizing the saddle shape. Might be able to do it from the outside, I'm not sure. I had to just straight shot it through from the inside. ... show more

I have used this AC daily for 3 weeks and I am very pleased with it. The unit arrived several days early. I did need someone to help remove it from the box but decided to do the install solo ( two people would definitely make it easier.) I let it sit upright 24 hours before unboxing and install and if worked great out of the box. Currently using it in a garage and it is a game changer there. The design is a very low profile instead of taking up half of the window. One caution - be sure your window measurements are accurate. The airflow is good but I put a small fan on top to help distribute the air since the room is big. It has multiple settings including a quiet mode and energy saver. The built in dehumidifier is definitely a huge plus in keeping the area comfortable. Only unknown at this point is durability and what the electric bill increase will be.     • The right ac for hot Georgia summers
So, I just put in the Antarctic Star U-Shaped Air Conditioner, and honestly, it was way easier than I thought. The U-shape is pretty smart because I can close my window almost all the way, which makes it feel solid and keeps the cool air in. The installation kit had everything I needed, and the instructions were super easy to follow. Once it was set up, I was kinda blown away by how quiet it is. Even on high, it’s barely making any noise, so I can chill, sleep, or watch TV without any annoying sounds. It cools the room fast and spreads the cool air evenly, which is awesome with this crazy heat. What’s really cool is that it’s energy-efficient, so my electric bill didn’t shoot up like it did with my old AC. It also looks pretty sleek and doesn’t make my window look all bulky or messy. Plus, I can control it from my phone and tweak the temperature whenever I want. All in all, this thing’s a win—easy to install, super quiet, and saves energy. Totally happy with it! ... show more

We have it just about a week now. I let it sit upright 24 hours before unboxing and installing with my husband. Two people recommended - easier and quicker. I was slightly disappointed after unpacking to discover a huge dent at the top suface of the Air Conditioner. It was packaged very nicely, couldn't understand how it gotdented unless they shipped it that way. It did not interfere with istallation and it seems to be running very well. There was no time to re-place with a heat wave headed towards the East Coast. We are in the second day of the heatwave and we are very comfortable. Reccomend watching the video's from other people who purchased and installed. We did wind up purchasing extra wide foam weather stripping just for extra coverage around the seams. I would have given it 5 stars if it were not for the dents - I see a lot of people are getting dents in some of the reviews. Any financial retrobution??? They have dent and scratch stores for slightly irregular/damaged appliances. Glad I got the extended warranty. Will update if there are any problems. ... show more

    • Perfect window air conditioner
It was an easy set up with its U shape but it’s heavy and it cooled down the big kitchen and living room space quickly for the short hot summer months and then I can use it as dehumidifier in the winter. The water drainage is the front left side and easy to drain. It’s quite inside and loud outside. It’s out of the way and way cheaper than getting a mini split and installation fees. ... show more

    • There are much better quality AC's for $400
After unboxing the AC I found there to be some minor damage, not as bad as some of the reviews I've seen on here, but still kinda messed up for being brand new and $400. This AC does not drip water outside, instead there is a drain plug on the inside portion, that just sounds like your asking for trouble there, amd also annoying to have to go and manually drain it all the time. It makes weird vibration sounds while it runs. And I've been unplugging it while not in use because it even started randomly vibrating and making noise with the power off and had been off for hours. I just dont even trust to leave this running if I'm not right there in the house, not even to just go outside and do some yard work for a little bit. Too worried its either leak water or blow up ( the vibrating sounds that bad at times) I will say when its not vibrating it is very quiet, and it does cool my house down quite well, which is the only reason it gets 2 stars instead if one.. but unfortunately I've already bought another AC because I just dont trust this thing. Luckly Amazon is good enough to still let me return the thing for a full refund. ... show more
