I have not found one of these types of DVR systems that is perfect. Plus they are limited to the picture quality due to the type of cable you use. I had already run 16 cameras worth of cable and was not going to try and re-do everything to Cat 6, so I decided to try and find the best set up. I initially bought the Night Owl system. But what a nightmare getting it to connect to my phone and or the PC. So tweaky and constant issues. Tech support was great, but had to call too often. After a number of years I said this is a joke, I need to try something else. I switched to the Zosi system and found that it was great. Easier to use and easier to set up. BUT, after a few years the system started having issues. Constant dropping, harder to connect, harder to keep connected and picture quality was pretty bad. SO, I decided to give one more system a shot. I just picked the Annke system off of some reviews. I have only had it for about 1 month, but in that time I am very impressed. It will load live views of all of my cameras at one time. It was a dream to install and so so so much better than the previous two systems....by a mile. Picture quality is what it is, but I am very happy with this system....the only reason why I went out of my way to write this review. If your set up is like mine and have battled other systems, you will love this one. ... show more

So our DVR for our security cameras crapped out. The cameras were fine, just needed a new DVR. We bought this as a replacement. It worked great for about 3 weeks then suddenly only 4 of our 9 cameras had a picture. One camera is showing an image, but it’s all weird colors. We contacted customer service. They said we’d be sent an email with a number to call for support. The number was for the What’s App, but it was coming from China & we had to pay international calling charges if we called. So we are completely screwed & out $200 for this piece of junk. Do not buy!!!! ... show more

First one lasted about 4 months before the playback feature failed. On "playback" all we got was "no video available". looking deeper into the storage it showed that the HD had zero space avail and zero saved. Apparently the recorder was not seeing the HD.

I installed this DVR Hybrid about three months ago as well as the corresponding app for viewing on my phone. It works much better than the Swann unit it replaced. Yesterday morning it lost the video feed on all cameras. I called the support line and spoke with Geraldine who quickly helped me troubleshoot and identify the problem. It was the power supply to the cameras. I installed an old one I had and ordered a replacement online. Geraldine even called me back to make sure I didn't have any issues with the replacement.     • It works, but it has technology and user interface issues
I've owned this since 2023. My seven year-old Swann DVR died and I needed a replacement DVR that could record analog TVI cameras, so I tried the ANNKE 16 channel model DB61BS. While it can record my old TVI analog cameras, I missed the spec when I ordered that said they throw away half of the pixels and record at 1080P “Lite”, meaning instead of 1920 x 1080, they record at 960 x 1080. Faces are blurry when zoomed, compared to the old recorder, which is the opposite of what you want in a security DVR. Moore's Law says that processing power doubles about every 2 years, so by that measure, today's technology should be 8 times more powerful than my seven-year old DVR. It's a disappointment to have my recording resolution cut in half seven years later when today's technology should be able to record my full resolution easily. The recorder has many features and settings, and, like other reviewers, I found the documentation haphazard, at best. There is no centralized list of documents for my particular recorder – you have to do a search on a feature to find a document somewhere in their files. Some documents are generic; they refer to a generalized method to setup the features, but that means sometimes they miss details on my recorder. Some documents show previous software versions that have now changed and don't match the current menu system. Some functions are in places you might not even think to look in – several analog camera settings are buried in the PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) camera menus. My cameras aren't PTZ, so it never would've occurred to me to look there. The Motion AI isn't so I. I set my cameras for motion detection and checked only the Human box. The first day or two, it worked fine. Now, it's capturing vehicles that are at the limits of the detection boxes, vehicles going 25+ MPH. Few humans in the world can approach that speed, and when they do, there's lots of motion (arms, legs). They also are 100% focused on their sprint and not breaking into my property. Apparently, those basic ideas are missing from the AI filters. The only connector you're going to use on a regular basis, the external USB for exporting clips, is on the rear panel, sandwiched between the Ethernet connector and the USB mouse connector – an incredibly poor design. It should be on the front panel, where you could easily see and use it. Since it's the ubiquitous USB B connector, it's easy to try to plug the drive in the wrong way, too. You can export files to a USB drive, but there's no way to view them with the DVR. You have to remove the USB drive, plug it into something that can display the videos, then decide if your clip editing captured everything you need. This dramatically slows down the clip saving process. If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive security DVR to keep recording your analog cameras until you upgrade to an all digital system, this works. Don't expect the recordings to be as sharp as your old DVR, and expect to waste a lot more time finding documentation and editing export clips. ... show more
