  • Happy dogs, happy owner.
This ceramic blade set worked very well on my dogs. As expected they cut through some minor mats but not through larger ones that develop with a full winter snow coat (in the high Rockies). Some mats just need to be combed out or cut with scissors. The dogs are PWD's so their hair is thick and curly. The blades saved me time and ran a great deal cooler than non ceramic blades. I have compressed air so cleaning them often while clipping is easy for me and of course it saves time and keeps the blades and clipper motor happy. Lubricants help too. This depth of blade lets me trim down to a warm weather length without having to attach a depth comb. I use the blades on my Oster clipper without issue. Much better performance than the stock steel blades. ... show more

  • Cuts my Standard Poodle's fine, curly hair beautifully!
Yep, this is the blade you need for body clipping. So what exactly is a "CeramicEdge Carbon-Infused Steel" blade anyway? Well, it's actually a nicely polished and finished carbon steel blade with a ceramic moving blade instead of a steel one. You know those fancy ceramic carving knives that are sharp as a razor and stay that way? That's what the moveable blade is made of. Some "WAG" reviewers have complained about corrosion and dullness problems but my impression is that these people could foul(or, add your own expletive) up a solid steel cannon ball with their bare hands. Reasonable care, as with any cutting instrument, is all that is required. I clean my blade with a squirt of Ajax liquid dish soap, after every grooming session. Rinsing under hot, running water and then, stopping the blade while under the water stream removes the coating of protein from the sheared hair. I NEVER RUN THE BLADE DRY. Then, I dip the cutting edge into dry DIATOMACEOUS EARTH, moisten my fingers with a little water, forming a paste, and run the blade for only a couple of seconds, This puts a fine scratch on the cutting surfaces, which gives it that "grip" so necessary for cutting hair cleanly. After the scratch process (very brief), I remove the blade from the clipper and rinse it well with warm water. Now, with paper towelling, I carefully dry it and coat it liberally with Andis oil (not Oster, which stinks and is no better). I replace the blade onto the clipper and with the motor running, snap it into position, just like a normal mounting operation. Shaking and blotting with the clipper running will remove the excess oil and displace moisture from the blade. It can be then be dismounted and allowed to dry thoroughly before storing until its next use. Notes of interest: Hair protein plates onto the cutting surfaces as soon as they are allowed to dry. If you pause for more than a few minutes, you may notice the blade becomming "dull." Not to worry, simply clean with hot water and then oil. You may need to use the DE if your blade runs dry and becomes "polished." Diatomaceous earth is the powdered gunk that people put into swimming pool filters and throw away when it becomes full of algea and other stuff. It is CHEAP when purchased at swimming pool supply places. Buy a package and use it wherever a mild abrasive is needed. DE is the calcarious remains of tiny little marine animals and is used in all sorts of costly polishing products. Unlike nylon, it will not scratch glass, or tooth enamel (I'm NOT recommending that you clean your teeth with it - just my personal dig at nylon toothbrushes) but it will remove hard water deposits and it is an excellent stainless steel polish. If you have copper or brass that is darkly stained or pitted, DE will quickly prepare the surface before you use Brasso or some other expensive agent. As you might surmise, I am a great fan of the stuff. BTW it is also the preferred, non-toxic way to get rid of bed bugs, fleas, spiders and all sorts of creepy insects. No household or toolbox should be without it. The microscopic "scratch" that you want on your sliding surfaces is quickly removed unless they are kept well oiled. That "scratch" is what makes professionally sharpened barbers' scissors and clippers "tailored" for hair cutting. That slight raggedness catches the fine hair and holds it for slicing. Perfectly smooth blades tend to pinch and crush the hair squeezing out protein and coating the edges. "Dull" blades are often simply protein coated and cleaning with detergent and hot water brings them back into close contact. Restoring the "scratch" assures that they will keep slicing through your grooming session. It just makes sense and only takes a minute. Hint: Save money - DIY with DE! OK, I'm through. • Smooth cutting
If you like clippers for short (but not too short) hair, this blade is good for that. While Andis makes both half-ceramic and all-steel blades, the half-ceramic blades run cooler, stay sharp, and are much more quiet in operation. A lot of people consider clippers with interchangeable metal blades to be "pets-only" but I can tell you personally that they work very well on humans! Moreover, these blades have nice rounded corners and are far more comfortable for the scalp than plastic combs on a "standard" clipper blade. Keeping the blade properly lubricated and limiting the running time as short as possible will ensure that the blade does not get scorching hot. Having a set of graded cutting lengths allows one to easily achieve a summer "fade" haircut. ... show more

We've been grooming our GoldenDoodle for the past seven months since the "professional groomer" cut him so short he needed sun tan lotion and left clipper burn. I couldn't do any worse. Bought an Andis professional clipper and two sets of plastic guides. They worked OK but I was now ready to buy specific heads for the desired length. Read the reviews and bought this head for his body. Very, very pleased with the results, short but not shaved, perfect length, also much easier and quicker than the plastic guide. Delivered in a very timely manner with free delivery. Thanks for the previous reviews, very helpful ... show more

  • Sucks. Wasted money
I bought this for my Bichon. It literally cuts nothing I don’t get it. A complete waste of money. I followed what the chart said for blades and different breeds. I would recommend this. It either gets stuck and won’t glide through my pups fur or it will and doesn’t cut anything even though his hair is long enough that it should. ... show more

  • Solid Quality Piece & Great Length for Grooming Australian Labradoodles & many more
Love the quality of this attachment and well it works. I hate using plastic attachments that can fall off. This attachment is screwed down and allows for my clippers to groom with leaving the perfect amount of hair on the underside of my doodles. Andis is a great brand that I've used for years, they sell parts so I can buy parts that wear out, and Andis is a work horse. I know this attachment isn't cheap and a plastic version of it exists. However, using tools like this, for extended periods, the investment pays off when it doesn't break and it works better making me more efficient. I recommend this item whole heartedly but I would have given it five stars if it didn't bend my top piece of my clippers and if it was priced less. We aren't sure if this piece bent the plastic clip-in piece, on the top of my clippers, so the head doesn't lock in place like it used to. I'm ordering a new $6 dollar piece to fix the issue but I'm ranking this 4 stars for these tiny annoyances because I like it versus loving it. My advice is when you do open the open the top and this piece pops up be so careful when you close it back down to have it lock in place. Make sure the plastic piece is lining up correctly or you can bend the plastic and it will not longer click in and result in this piece popping open while you grooming your pet. ... show more
