Wanted the unit from the main player in this space, but wasn't happy with the reviews of that product, so I started exploring other options. People said this one was both more affordable and had better resolution. So I took the leap. And I don't regret it. Takes a little bit longer than I'd expect to start up, and you have to hold the phone in a weird way to avoid blocking the sensor, but overall it works very well.

The smooth 25Hz refresh rate makes the experience even better, ensuring the images are stable and easy to interpret. One of the standout features is the easy-to-use design, especially with its iOS compatibility via Lightning Port. It’s extremely convenient and requires no additional complex setup, just plug it into the phone, and you’re good to go. The 10-12 hours of continuous use is fantastic for long inspection sessions, and the battery-free design powered directly from the smartphone is a great feature that eliminates the need for extra batteries. Another benefit is the customizable settings, such as temperature calibration and multiple color palettes, which allow for a tailored experience to suit various inspection needs. Whether I’m doing DIY projects or checking for energy inefficiencies, it works great. This thermo camera works great. Its very small and easy to use. you do not have to charge it. It uses your phone for power. Everthing i have used it for it has been dead on.

UPDATE: Ancel customer service reached out to me and sent me a lightning to USB-C data cable that works great and I am back up and running with the thermal camera in time for winter weatherizing!!! I am very happy and I really appreciate good customer service. They went beyond the necessary and I want to really acknowledge that. I don't know why it is so hard to find the right cable, but make sure you get a lightning (female) to USB-C male DATA CABLE. I think that what I got was meant for headphones, though it didn't make that clear. Original: This is a very cool camera to be able to find leaks in our home heating insulation and it seemed to work well the 1 time I was able to test it and I was excited, unfortunately I got this in the summer and unexpectedly had to upgrade to an iPhone 16 pro that only has USB-C. While for every other occasion I love the USB-C, even though they advertise that it comes with an adapter cord, mine did not and the 2 that I have purchased do not work with it. I still have yet to find a cord that works so I cant use it. I am hoping that I can find an appropriate cord that works so I can come back and update this review.

For me it would only work for 10 seconds at a time. Then the screen would get all snow, Looked good for those 10 seconds then would have to unplug and start again. Packing did not look right on this one. Was not in the case correctly. So maybe was a return.

What a great device! One little thing here - I ordered and tried this with my previous phone, an iPhone13. I now have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and since Apple finally updated their power/data port to usb-c, I'll have to get a little adapter to use the camera again so just be aware of that when you choose a camera and a phone. The camera itself is fantastic! We live in a log home so finding leaks not only helps us save money, it also helps keep our home healthy by alerting us to any areas where not only weather, but critters could intrude. This has already saved us more than the asking price, I'm very sure. Good value. Accurate. Next up, I'll be having a look at areas for improvement in the family camper. Husband reports this will be useful in vehicle repair. I can't wait to find even more uses for this. It's a cool little tool, even my granddaughter (8) finds it fascinating which is great. Anything to spur interest in STEM is a good thing.
