I have a 2014 BMW X1 xdrive28i. The local BMW dealership quoted me almost $500 for a battery and to register it. I got on YouTube and watched a video of a battery register on a BMW with this device. I was very very skeptical. I went ahead and bought this device. I purchased a battery from Autozone. Went home installed the battery after watching a YouTube video on that part too. I installed the Ancel app on my Samsung Galzy 22 Ultra and I plugged the dongle into my OBD port. The app instantly recognized the device. I tried to register the battery on the first attempt. IT said not supported. I tried again. It said the same thing. I did not have my key fob in my car and the car wasn't on. After I put the key in the car and attempted again. It worked perfectly. The app walks you thru the entire process and it took less than one minute to complete. I had heard horror stories about registering a BMW vehicle battery without using the dealership. Things from the car not starting at, wiper blades turning on and not stopping. The radio being locked out and not working. Windows not working. I was SCARED to say the least. After the registration process. I paused for a while and bit the bullet and pushed the start button. The car started. Nothing funny happened. I turned on the wipers they worked. Headlights worked, radio worked, windows worked. Car went into reverse, drive and park. The only other thing I had to do was reset the clock. I am very very happy I made this purchase and gave Ancel a chance. This is gonna save me a ton of money in the future.

The device paired immediately and the app was very easy to use. What's cool is that you can directly link each code finding to the internet by tapping it and find a ton of information, something the hand held devices can't do.

I purchased the Ancel scanner because I needed to register a new battery in a 2009 BMW 328i Convertible. Worked perfectly and was very easy to use. Now I have a full code scanner for the car that I can use for other purposes as needed

I used this to reset a battery change in my wifes bmw the dealership wanted 1k for a battery replacement it cost me 200 for the battery and this device. It has also helped me diagnose problems with my childrens vehicles as well. Great device.

First off, I’m no stranger to OBD2 scan tools and even some coding coming from decades of experience with VW/Audi and that wonderful cable from Ross-Tech. However, with this Ancel “tool”, I performed a Vehicle Inspection Date Adjustment on my e93 BMW which resulted in my gas vehicle now showing options for diesel particulate filter under the Service menu in the cluster. Each time this procedure is performed it seemingly chooses random items to display in the vehicles cluster menu. Also reset the trip mileage every time, which isn’t a big deal but shouldn’t happen. I don’t trust it and these functions were listed as specific to my vehicle. Now I’m left with an incorrect menu with no idea how to get it back to factory defaults. I contacted the manufacturer for support, and after being passed off to another internal contact for Amazon orders and waiting a few days, was instructed to leave a review and they would help to resolve… so here you go!

It plugged right into my car's diagnostic port, and the app I installed on my android phone found it right away via Bluetooth. As other reviewers have said, the app is not easy to use or to understand. I was able to register a new battery after watching one video. I had to go back into the house and search for/watch another video to reset the brake fluid. I felt a little better watching the guy (who was a mechanic and very familiar with BMW maintenance) fumble around using the app also. It's too difficult for me to use. After reading reviews, I'm going to try the AUTOPHIX 7910 next.
