I don't have any experience with a more expensive tool, but this worked great for my purposes. I needed to test some trailer batteries and this worked as advertised. It didn't take me long to figure out the menu system. The instructions were really clear and it gave me what I needed. I'm sure this will come in handy later for other battery types and this will save me some time in having to go to the auto parts store to get a battery checked.

Great tester has a ton of functionality super easy to use. So far seems pretty high quality the screen is super bright and easy to see it response quickly and is a great way to take look into your battery and charging systems health.

Just picked up this product to test a 12v RV battery and a pair of 6v batteries *. Very simple/easy to use product. I've used ANCEL product before, so the readout and usability is just as easy as their other products. No external power needed and easy to follow settings to check the integrity of your batteries. As far as I can tell, you cannot test lithium batteries, but you can pretty much test any other lead/flooded/AGM batteries with this product. Small and compact form factor makes this a very portable tool, especially for RV travel when maintenance and testing will be needed at some time. I like how you can put specific parameters such as "in vehicle" and "out of vehicle" or enter the CCA so it can do specific testing for your set up. As noted, I use this product for an RV scenario where batteries are critical to run certain appliances in an RV, such as the lights, refrigerator, and heater blower. This is a much needed testing tool for your arsenal of tools to ensure your rig is running at optimal performance. More importantly, to check/test for any potential issues. No one wants to start a trip with failing batteries. I specifically needed this product to test exactly this scenario. Of course, this will also be used to test my tow vehicle's battery as well. Overall, the ease of use, form factor, and price point makes this a great product. I would highly recommend. * Note: As far as I can read, this does not test 6v batteries by themselves. I was able to test my two 6v batteries by running them in series, where they would outputting their intended 12v power.

I purchased this based on some online reviews and Amazon reviews. I'm not sure about how these types of meters can load test a 1000 amp capacity battery without a carbon pile resistor, but it seems that it can be done and there are a plethora of meters with very similar features and design. I got this one for $25 as it had a 30% off coupon. I bought this to replace my Autool BT-Box 100 because the app was dropped from the Apple store, so it was a brick to me. They say it still works with an Android phone, so I'll give it to one of my friends with that type of phone. One should be careful when buying a meter that depends on your phone as the interface as it can be obsoleted with the next phone update.

Normally I do not post anything right off the bat after getting something but this device was what I have been needing! I generally work on all my vehicles where I can and batteries have always been a thorn in my side. It is a crap shoot when you buy one, oh sure they have warranties, just saw one tonight for 5 years! That is great if you like changing your car battery every other year or so. Anyway ... got it today and used it immediately on 3 older to newer vehicles in my "fleet" as my wife calls it, 1996, 1998, 2015. The 2015 SUV still had its OEM battery, passed. The 1996 truck with a 2 year old battery, passed. The 1998 car was a replace with only a 1 1/2 year old battery. Health reading was below 40% every time I tested it. The alternator test passed on all (3) vehicles and it was nice to see actual data on the screen and it was not just some pre-made number screen, it varied in it's data stream for each vehicle. Took the 1998 car battery back to the store, they said "well, my tester says it has voltage so it is good." Obviously his "tester" was store "approved" and that is what they go by. I was warned a few years back by the local dealership to watch out for them saying that because voltage is not the only test that should be done on batteries and they had many customers claim that the parts store said the batteries were good while the dealership test said replace. Screen is a bit small but readable, the menus are intuitive and a little car knowledge helps with the syntax of the questions/options. The print screen was a great add-on, worked under Windows 7 64 bit and was nice to see and show how a bad battery vs a good battery looks like. By the way, after I got the new battery (tagged 03/18) home and immediately put it into the 1998 car, I tested it without starting the car. The results were great and I will hold on to them and test this battery in 6 months and see if there is any change. Results from the BA101: (screen/print-out) Healthy: 100% 1140CCA Charge: 81% 12.49V Internal R= 2.62m ohm Rated: 800 A Select Input: CCA GOOD BATTERY

Product did not work upon receipt and was unable to return since I was unable to use it for a month.I have tried it on several batteries since it's purchase and the only message is Check Connection. This is worthless Chicom junk. Spend your money on another tester. Product does not do what it is supposed to do at all. The one star rating is as low as it would go.
