If your ceiling has a standard electrical junction box (where a light fixture is usually installed), you can mount it directly. No new holes, drilling, or structural damage. It's the perfect, damage-free upgrade! Can I use my existing wall dimmer, fan speed, or smart switch with this fan? IMPORTANT: No. As a DC motor fan, it must not be connected to any dimmer, fan speed, or smart switch. Use a standard On/Off wall switch only. Also, the fan and light cannot be wired separately. What if I lose the remote or the LED light fails? Do I have to replace the whole fan? No, you'll never need a full replacement. This ceiling fan is very nice for keeping cool on hot days. It's definitely a step up from the cheap ones you can find at places like Lowe's or Home Depot. I installed it in my office (it was pretty easy, even though there were a lot of parts) and have been using it ever since. The fan is quiet too, which is great because I don't want to be distracted by noise when I'm working. I like the fact that you can dim the light and choose from different color temperatures. It's nice to be able to customize the lighting depending on my mood or the time of day (sometimes I just need a little extra light in the evening). The fan has 6 speeds, which is more than enough for me. I usually keep it on medium or high when it's hot out. This thing works great and looks good too - it definitely adds a touch of style to my office. It's even better that the blades are reversible so you can switch up the look whenever you want (I haven't done this yet, but I plan to). ... show more

    • A really superior, quiet, and easily installed 42" ceiling fan

Granted, I may be handier at assembling things than most, AND, this was a simple, logical, well-documented assembly and installation of the Amico fan. The folks that had a complaint about things not fitting together properly simply didn't follow the instructions. There is one step where you have to align 4 holes, one of which has a projection that fits into the piece below it in only one position - if you get that wrong, it won't assemble correctly. Just take your time - everything actually fits together perfectly. I could take off 1 star because the instruction manual makes you interpret the images without a lot of supporting text, and a couple of the pieces (screws) in the images are super tiny - hard to see the details. But at no point was it unclear what to do next - the manual is vastly better than most. The fan finish quality was excellent and appropriate for the price point. The remote is better than many that come with the lower end fans. It has a delightful "breeze" mode that cycles up and down in fan speed, like a breeze blowing through your window. But it's the quietness that is so stellar. On the lowest speed ("1"), it moves a modest amount of air - like for sleeping - but is absolutely dead silent. On "2" it is barely audible, on up to "6" where it's pushing a lot of air and still isn't loud or obnoxious. Bottom line: this is a great fan, especially considering the price. ... show more

The 42 inch Amico ceiling fan is the perfect size for a small 10’x10’ bedroom or office. It was easy to install and wire up to an existing light fixture. There are a lot of variations on the light brightness and color tones. I use our small room as an office and I like the bright white maximum intensity setting. This was the easiest ceiling fan I’ve ever installed. The quality of it feels well made. The fan is very quiet (I can’t hear it on the low settings at all), and the lights are bright, but can also be dimmed.
