  • Great toilet with one minor caveat
First off, the unit came packaged nicely in two boxes. Like a couple of others, it was confusing because the tank was labeled "12" Rough", and my researching the part numbers before opening got me all different stats on different sites. Some said it was a 12 and others a 14. But I read one comment here before opening that thankfully confirmed I had the right components. And combined, it is in fact a 14" rough in toilet. My only complaint is that the workmanship needs a little refinement. While pulling the base out, I sliced my finger really well (instant blood gush!) on the seam in back of the toilet. This is not visible, and it's likely to ever be touched again. I guess unless someone tries to clean the upper back of the bowl. Otherwise the unit looks very nice. Was worried about the 1.28 gal and shockingly short flush (looks like the tank only went down an inch or two on a flush!). But so far it's been a one flush toilet. Very amazing. Also keeps itself cleans streak-wise (sorry to be so graphic!). My previous toilet was a dual flush I got from Costco about 7 years ago and that thing... streak city every time. Comes with t-bolts and caps for the base, and all tank to bowl connections. Does not come with a seat, wax ring or supply line. It's not usual to find a toilet that DOES include these things (I want to pick my own seat, and how do they know what length supply line?), so not sure why people are dinging them on that. Overall, great unit. Yes you can buy a toilet for like $80 at the big box stores, but I'm just happy to be done with streaking and flush mechanism problems. ... show more

  • Good Price but Quality is a bit off
Confirming that I received the correct 14" Rough-in was problematic. First, the bowl and tank were shipped separately and the model numbers on the boxes do not match the model 215FC104.020 on my order. Second, the label on the tank box shows, "12 in. Rough-In". After contacting the merchant, I was told that I received the correct items. My plumber could not confirm that I received the correct items so I researched the issue on the American Standard website. I found that the spec sheet for 215FC104 lists the tank and bowl as separate orderable items. That means, the bowl is model number 3517F.101.020 and the tank is model number 41888A.104.020. Thirdly, without the spec sheet, there's no way to confirm the 14 in. rough-in by taking a measurement of the distance between the waste outlet and the back edge of the toilet. In this case, the distance is 9-1/4". The spec sheet can be found at American Standard website. Lastly, the quality is not as good as the American Standard that I removed. The waste outlet on the bottom was not ground smooth and square, as you would expect. The outlet was ground 3/4 of the way across the surface and at an angle not parallel the the base. I don't expect it to leak, but certainly you would expect better quality from American Standard even if made in Mexico. ... show more

  • American Substandard quality
Was in need of a 14 in rough toilet, and fortunately I came across this. Free shipping made this an attractive option, so I pulled the trigger. The toilet overall is okay. A little annoying you pay that much for a toilet and it doesn't come with the seat, but whatevs, it's a 14 rough toilet. My options are limited. American Standard clearly has an issue with quality control. I was about to schedule to get a plumber to come by and do the install, but the little voice in the back of my head said "check out the toilet". Fortunately I did. It turned out they sent me 2 bowls. At first I thought it was a total screw up on the Amazon fulfillment side, but I then realized this mistake was on the American Sub-standard side. They labeled items incorrectly. In theory you'd think it'd be sort of obvious one of the boxes was labeled wrong because the tank box is waaaayyyy smaller than the bowl box. Amazon itself was pretty stellar about handling this, and promptly got me a replacement. When tracking down all the parts I did go to their website to find out the right parts. What a cluster F that site is. They seem to deliberately want to make it difficult to find out what parts match with what. Don't supply the toilet seat, okay, but at least try and make the extra effort in making it easy to find some options. I did purchase an AS Champion slow close seat. Big mistake. It's already return-ville. The seat does not even sit straight on the bowl. It also doesn't really seem like it fits well on that bowl. Further confirming my thoughts of the substandard. Probably one of the last American Standard items I'll buy. One big warning for those purchasing this product (or any toilet you mail order). These toilets are packed in a combination of foam peanuts, foam padding, and a foam spray they use to contour to the parts. This makes it pretty safe to ship. However, it is a huge PITA to clean up. The foam breaks apart into tiny pieces. You have no choice in order to free it from the box. If you do have to return it, odds are highly unlikely you'll be able to repackage it properly. Just be aware you'll have a lot of box and shipping foam you'll need to get rid of. ... show more

  • Great customer service!
The first bowl arrived damaged and I quickly contacted the seller. I'm very happy with the customer service because they made things right and sent me a replacement within a couple days. Like others have said, there are some quality issues but not deal breakers. Very happy with the fit because I had a 3.5" space behind my old bowl and now its down to 1". It has a strong flush and plenty of room in the front which is a must for me. My only complaint is having to run the the local hardware store to pick up a seat and wax ring because they aren't included. Overall I'm very satisfied with my experience. ... show more
