  • Fit great, but order two.

Works great. Unfortunately only lasted 5 years. Ordering another.

  • Works great in a 4028 American Standard!
Color: White
We bought a house recently and noticed that the previous owners bought the wrong handles for our 4028 American Standard toilets. It took me forever to figure out why the toilets acted up whenever the lids sat fully down. The lids had to be raised slightly in order to get a proper functioning toilet. Then I finally took the time to realize it was the incompatable handles! As you can see from my photos, one is with the old handles. The old handles hit the lid, making it so the handle could not fully raise upward into the proper position. So I looked for handles that were compatible with the 4028 toilet tank. This is thr handle that was recommended. It fits perfectly, and now the lid can sit completely flat on it without touching the handle at all. Overall, just be careful to make sure your handle is designed for your toilet tank. The previous owners failed to do that, so we had to do it. Now all 3 toilets work great! No more running toilets! ... show more

  • Easy fix for broken toilet handle

It fit perfectly.

  • Just what the toilet ordered
Color: White
This original replacement for American Standard is just what my toilet & I wanted. The original lever broke after 12 years of use. I tried a few from Lowes & another hardware store but they were either too big (looked ridiculous), made in China, or just plain ugly. This one looks as good as a toilet lever can look on a toilet. ... show more

  • It simply doesn't work.
Color: White
I have an American Standard toilet. In the past, when I replaced toilet trip levers I just bought generic ones from my local hardware store or a big box store and they worked fine for years. Recently, my lever broke and when I was looking for replacements on Amazon, I found that some levers won't work with some toilets. So, not wanting to have to return one, I went to the American Standard website to look up which ones were made to work with my model toilet. Their parts search system is absolutely terrible. You can't look for parts based on your products model number. You have to look through random parts that aren't organized by the model number they work with or even what type of part they are. I contacted American Standard and suggested they organize their parts search so you can enter your product's model number and see parts ONLY for that model. They responded by thanking me and saying they will take that into consideration. I have never seen a manufacturer who doesn't list their parts by product number. Anyway, they told me what lever to buy so I ordered it on Amazon and it doesn't work. Well, it works sometimes but, for some reason, it often lets the flapper drop slightly off-center and water just keeps on running. The flapper is in perfect shape and this never happened before. I think it may be the angle of the lever. So I have to buy another lever and I'll just throw this one in the trash. It also feels very cheap. I'll just go with a generic one again and hope it fits. (The way they attach to the toilet tank varies.) I'll also look for one with a stainless steel lever or a bronze one and avoid any plastic lever like this one has. If you're replacing your lever, something you should avoid are the ones that claim the lever is plated with chrome, etc. By reading reviews, I found that most of those are just plastic with chrome or brass colored paint. Look for one that specifically says it's SS or brass. ... show more

  • The old OEM lasted over 20 years! Good to go another 20 or so.
Color: Chrome
Went right into 4072 American Standard tank. Perfect fit and took less than 30 seconds to install. No problems. We are back in business. Now as other reviewers have pointed out, this lever is all plastic and flimsy. However, I thought I would point out that this handle is exactly like the cheap flimsy levers that came with the toilet tanks in the house. All 4 toilet tanks are 4072 American Standard. 3 were installed in 1995 when we bought the house and the 4th was installed in 1998 when I finished the basement. This is the first handle out of the 4 that has broken. Lasting over 20 years is not a bad track record for these cheap flimsy handles . . . just sayin' Another note - at first I went down to HD and bought a nice more durable "universal" lever off the rack. It took a long time (several minutes) to adjust correctly and then would get stuck with the flapper up every 3rd flush or so. That's when I did my homework and ordered this one and I am glad I did. When another of the 20 year old handles goes out I know where to get one. :) ... show more

  • Installed perfectly, works like a charm
Color: White
A little tricky tightening up the inside nut, reverse threaded from the perspective you're working with. But, it works very well once installed.

  • Did not last!
Color: White
Used this handle in a secondary bathroom in a 2 person home. Handle and lever assembly broke after 2 and a half years. Disappointed!
