Description

The RE20 dynamic cardioid microphone bundle is truly an industry standard, a firm favorite among broadcasters and sound engineers worldwide. Its popularity also extends into music production as a premium grade instrument microphone. Its Variable-D design and heavy-duty internal pop filter excel for close-in voice work, while an internal element shock-mount reduces vibration-induced noise. RE20 is easily the single, most-heard radio host’s microphone of all time, delivering a vocal tone that has become synonymous with the sound of the modern FM radio personality. A true industry standard and firm favorite of broadcasters and sound engineers worldwide for its smooth and linear characteristics on voice, the RE20’s reputation is that of a 'must-have' mic for any studio. Paired with the 309A from Electro-Voice is a professional- quality suspension shock mount. The mount is constructed from metal and has a swiveling basket for precise mic positioning. The mount is designed to support the RE20, RE27N/D and RE320 microphones. Because these mics have internal shock mounts as well, the 309A provides an additional level of protection against unwanted vibrations. • Exactly what I needed!
Color: Beige
Fantastic for VoiceOver work and audiobook narration. Reduces reflections in a not-so-well treated environment. I see (and HEAR) why it's the broadcast standard.

  • The Greatest of All Time used the Greatest Mic of All Time
Color: Black
I'm used to condenser mics, so when I got the package delivered, I was surprised how heavy and huge this mic is and how much heavier it is again with the 309A shock mount. What a frickin' monster. Good grief, the search is on for a boom stand that will support this Godzilla of a microphone. As for how it operates and sounds, there's enough reviews in here to satisfy that. If you watched RL do his show on the dittocam, and if you have a mic processor like a DBX 286S in play, you know how far away from this mic you can be while being physically animated and squirming around and still sound like a million bucks (or over 600 million in his case). If this mic is good enough for the most famous radio announcer of all time, it's certainly good enough for me (even though mine isn't actually gold plated for real like his). With radio being his deep love and passion since childhood, and with unlimited resources to use anything he could ever dream of, if the Shure SM7B was better than this mic, RL would have used it. It's the EV RE20 through which he broadcasted the most famous and most successful radio broadcast of all time. And that says it all. Also, a side note: I've seen a LOT of YouTubers and podcasters using "poser" mics, basically fancy looking condenser or dynamic mics on a stand just to look cool in front of their cameras - but if you look closely, their mics are often mounted or positioned wrong and they're actually wearing tiny little lapel/lavaliere mics pinned to their shirts because they don't even know how to set up a real studio mic. What phonies! The Greatest of All Time actually used his RE20, and what you heard on his show actually came through this glorious microphone. ... show more

  • GREAT MIC !
Color: Beige
I've needed an RE20 for years when I DJ, and now I've gotten one. Great for DJ work, on stage or radio.

  • excellent microphone
Color: Beige
This is an excellent microphone for voice recording and broadcasting. The shock mount comes disassembled, but only takes a few minutes to put together. It also includes four extra rubber suspension pieces. The output level of ths microphone is slightly lower than that of an SM57, so you will need a decent preamp for it. I am using a DBX 286S, which works fine. Otherwise, there's not much to say. The sound of this mic works well with a wide range of voices. If yours is such a voice, you will be happy with it. ... show more

  • Industry standard, still after all these years
Color: Beige
This microphone was purchased for my home studio. It lives up to its legacy. Will other microphones out there do what this does? Absolutely, probably better. But you know you've hit the industry mark, and potential clients know you're on par when you use this microphone. Then (back to 50 years ago) and now, you will see this microphone in the best of the best broadcast studios. And now you see it in mine. I host a weekly broadcast radio show. Nice work by the seller getting it here quickly. ... show more

  • The Radio Show Hosts best friend
Color: Black
This is used in radio stations and tv stations across the world and with good reason. It’s designed for spoken word and acoustic instruments, having just used mine to mic an in-studio guitar performance from my show guest. I’ve narrated audio dramas, liners, promos and even a video game with this beautiful instrument. Voice actors tend to favor large capsule condenser mics—and they capture a ton of nuances in voices, and provide proximity effect whereas RE-20 cuts your proximity effect—but if you don’t have a sound proof room, the rejection of ambient noise by the RE-20 is fantastic. My recommendation is to start with two mics—and make this one of them! ... show more

Initially I was concerned about the price, but it is worth every dollar. Great quality sound and I love the look

  • Great sound for voice
Color: Black
The RE20 is a classic mic that you see in radio and podcasts everywhere. I use it for recording voiceovers, screencasts, and even to sound good on video conferences. I also recommend getting a mic activator, such as the Cloudlifter CL1 since the RE20 tends to need a bit more gain in the signal.
