I'm sorry to leave a negative review, because the bench looks absolutely beautiful. But I just assembled it and the main beam on the seat broke as soon as my friend sat on it. Neither of us are very big (155lbs each), and it cracked immediately after he sat down--and he sat down pretty gently. Very disappointing. Because we didn't assemble it for 6 weeks after buying it, apparently there are no returns or other options. If you purchase this bench, do yourself a favor and spend a couple dollars to purchase quality dowels to use instead of the poor quality ones that are included in the package. This would have saved me time and frustration. It also will make your bench stronger and safer. The dowels are 5/16" by 1.5," I found good quality ones at a local big box store - They should be under $3.00 for 50. First some background: I have substantial experience assembling furniture. If you have assembled enough furniture, eventually you will find a unit that needs a hole realigned or a missing screw replaced - neither of which is a major problem. The problem is that this bench shipped with wooden dowels made from defective wood scraps. Unfortunately, on mine the defects were not obvious until I tried to use them. This bench is designed so that they weight is supported by one screw and one wooden dowel at each connection point. That is common and not, problematic - IF they use dowels of appropriate quality. I inserted the first wooden dowel and assembled the first corner per the instructions. But before I could even insert the first screw, that dowel broke. On closer inspection, it is clear that the dowels in the box were made from scraps that were not inspected. These dowels will NOT hold the weight they are intended to hold. With the dowel broken and filling the holes where they need to go, I had two options: 1) Ship the entire package back and hope that the next package is better, or 2) drill out the broken dowels, purchase new flouted dowels. I elected option #2. The bench does not look dissimilar to the photos shown in the listing. Other than the dowels, it appears to be of good quality for the price. Hope this helps.

It was pretty easy to assemble. Looked good. Then I sat GENTLY in it and all 150lbs of me cracked a board at the cheaply glued joint and popped the screw out. I can’t return it, Amazon will not give me a refund since I waited so long to put it together, so I guess now I have to brace it with something. It looks nice, but it’s junk.

For the money, you could do better. Too much is skimped on when it comes to structural integrity! The back is too straight and is not a good fit for whiling away hot summer days. Very disappointed in the finish as well, wood is rough and was not sanded, therefore I worried enough about splinters to pull out the orbital sander to smoothen it out and then added more teak oil. Oh, by the way, the unmarked white squeezy stuff in the little bag is glue, not finishing oil to cover up rub marks! Thanks a lot! Grrr

The benches are good quality and sturdy...however, we ordered 2 and both arrived with damage. We opted to keep them and will attempt to repair. Looked for a way to request a partial refund as we really did not want to box these large items back up and return them.

I got this for my front porch. However the wooden part where you sit, I didn't get any screws to set onto other framing woods part to connect. So seating wooden part is just laying on /removable which I don't like... Plus with sun and rain, outside wood parts feeling get rough. If you want smooth feeling for this bench, you really need to sand, polish, stain and put coatings. I out cushions for seating part. You definitely will get splinters if you don't take care or put coushion on.

The 'spindles' that are the back of the bench are already assembled, f.y.i. The bag of nails, etc, that need to be screwed in come in a tiny bag- in other words, putting it together is a snap with few attachments. It was so quick, it took less than half an hour. It is sturdy, you will feel safe sitting on it. Don't be afraid of the pieces, it is so easy. It is beautiful.

I bought 2 benches. The boxes arrived in-tact and were delivered by USPS (later than originally told). However, one bench was packed with a frame for the seat slats that wasn’t attached due to the screws being stripped; so we repaired it and made it work (special occasion seating). The seat sets in the bench frame- it does not attach. I was disappointed but kept them as we were in need of the seats.
