These shorts are a good value. I bought two pairs, one beige and one navy. They are medium weight cotton. The leg length is perfect. The width of the shorts was perfect for the beige, but the blue shorts were a little wider, but wearable. The waist is true to size, which means if you lay the garment flat on a table and measure it the measurement is exactly 18 inches; which is half the waist size of 36. Many purchasers say they are small, but that is because when they buy most pants there is an inch or two added for a "vanity" fit by the manufacturer. Your skin measurement is not your pant size, unless you wear your shirts untucked. I wear my shirts tucked in, so that adds an inch to the waist size. I normally buy size 34, but purchased 36, and they fit, but not super snug. There are no wrinkles in the front or back of the shorts, which would indicate tightness. Either my husband put in a few inches in the waist or these run small. I initially ordered a size 33 because that’s what all his other shorts/pants are. I had to return them and bought a size 34 and they fit perfectly. He’s a small bones man and most pants/shorts make him look like he has a baggy butt. These fit perfectly in the legs and backside. The color looks even better in person. The material is a nice quality, not too thin , not too thick. The pocket size is deep enough, so no fear of his phone or keys falling out. Just got these shorts today and the first impression is solid. The fit is exactly as advertised, true to size with a slim but comfortable cut. The fabric feels soft and of good quality, not stiff like some other budget chinos. The color is sharp and looks just like the pictures. My only issue was that the pair I received had a noticeable stain right out of the package. I’ve already asked for a replacement, so hopefully that’s just a once off problem. If the replacement comes clean, these will be an easy go to short for the my upcoming travels.. At this price point, the quality feels like a win. Happy with it ... show more

For $10, these fit the bill & fit my waste, hard to find a 31". The only color at this price is black. If I oder another color, the cost average would be $15, which is good. Fit & feel good, while more pockets would be nice.

I recently purchased the Amazon Essentials Men's Slim-Fit 9" Shorts, hoping for a sharp, well-fitting addition to my summer wardrobe. While the shorts do look nice and have a crisp appearance, I encountered some significant issues with their sizing. Firstly, the shorts have no give in the waistline and tend to run small. This lack of stretch makes them uncomfortable, especially if you're in between sizes or prefer a bit more flexibility. I find it frustrating that a 33" waist can vary so much between different brands, and even within the same brand depending on the day of the week they were made. Consistency in sizing is crucial, and unfortunately, these shorts fall short in that department. I purchased two pairs in different colors, expecting them to fit the same. However, one pair fit just right, while the other was too tight to button. This inconsistency is disappointing, especially when men's sizes are supposed to be actual measurements, not some arbitrary number. A good product at a good price, I've purchased 4 of these shorts. The fit is a little small, order a size up if in-between, but your normal size will work.
