The only issue is the instructions - they’re visual alphabetic instructions. It was pretty easy to figure out, but annoying at first. They do have YouTube videos for back up. We had everything swapped out within 15 minutes. Works great, love the black matte and the handle style - I also like there’s a back up key. You do need 4 AA batteries.

Easy to install, and easy to program as long as you follow the directions. Not sure how it will hold up with direct sunlight. But the color is perfect for the theme of my house.

They assembled the handle before they put faceplate in, but if you push the button shown with a small drill bit or the tool that's included etc, and have someone pull it apart at the same time, it unlatches, and you can assemble correctly! Took hour to figure codes but here's easy steps! With door open and unlocked : 1. 0000...lock...0...lock It will lock and unlock 2. 0000...lock...4...lock... Put in 4 digit PROGRAM code like 4444...lock 3. 4444 (new program code)...lock...1...lock...NEW USER CODE example 2547...lock Now to enter use the "2547" user code you created And lock button To exit and lock NO CODE juts hit lock button. Hope this save you the hour it took me to figure it out!

This Amazon Basics electronic combination lock will not work on doors that have pre-drilled holes for the deadbolt and the handle that are less than about 1.5 inches apart, from edge to edge of holes. I was trying to replace what I think is called a 'barn-door' type door lock and this amazon lock did not fit. The existing holes were too close together (about 1 inch, edge to edge). I think the edges of the holes on the door should be at least 2 inches apart. Specifically the door lock I was trying to replace was this one: Weslock Colonial One Piece Interconnected Single Cylinder Keyed Entry Handleset. See photos to see the type of door handle I was trying to replace, in case you have the same style. If you want to replace that style of door handle / lock with this electronic Amazon combination lock, it will not fit. Installation of this door lock was pretty straight forward. One person can do the job solo. If the holes are predrilled in your door, you only need one screwdriver. There is manual booklet with step by step instructions. And the box also comes with a handy template for measuring and drilling the holes in the correct place, if the door does not have holes in it. Since the review forces me to give it a star rating, I am going for 3 stars because nowhere on the description of this product does it say what the minimum distance of the holes should be, from edge to edge or center to center. The printed template has the distance of the holes, center to center at 4 inches apart. But I think that distance can be as small as 2 inches. I did like the feel and finish of the door handle. A smooth brushed metal. And I do like that the keypad has memories for many codes, so different people can have their own key code.

The lock and door handle look very nice. Installation was pretty easy as well. However, the programming was very confusing - too many code items to put in! I had bought 2 other more expensive fingerprint locks before and now realize, you get what you pay for. I’m returning this and purchasing the other more expensive lock. The programming of those (Even with the extra finger print programming) was so much easier than this one! On this lock, you have to change the programming code and your user code. Sounds simple but it’s NOT! On the more expensive fingerprint lock, I simply chose my user code, which then also became my programming code. On this lock there is simply too much to remember, the instruction manual will become lost over time and you will be stuck, not to mention frustrated to the max! Another problem I noticed is that the keys are tough to push down compared to the more expensive lock I bought. They stick and don’t always register, so you have to keep trying, ugh! It’s such a bummer that I now have to remove this lock and try to return it so I can get the other one again. Save yourself the trouble and just buy the more expensive lock with the finger print feature. After all, you get the lock for convenience not headaches! Hope this helps you!
