I recently purchased the outdoor dog leash from Amazon, and I must admit, it has been a surprisingly impressive addition to my dog-owner routine. The leash arrived promptly, as expected. So far this tie out cable has worked really well for my 110 pound German Shepard! I have had it a few weeks now and I wanted to wait to write a review because I wanted to be sure there were no product issues. I have had no issues and it’s sturdy and does not get all knotted up like the much thinner tie-out cable we purchase from the store for our pit bull who is half my GSD’s size. I am outside in the front yard working while I put him on this cable, I don’t leave him unattended just because. I also clip it to his harness so it won’t choke him. He is not very friendly to dogs he doesn’t know or some strangers and I feel completely okay having him on this cable because I really don’t think he will break it, trying to get at anything he feels is a threat. It’s pretty long so he can lay in the grass or stay in the garage on the couch. I added a thick carabiner to the end so I can loop it through and attach it to the loop in the cable just for my sanity. The clips on the end seem pretty strong but my baby is very very strong so the carabiner gives me peace of mind. He is older and hasn’t tried to chew through it, he doesn’t do that anymore he’s 4 now, he only chews on his squeaky toys and tennis balls. The price was much cheaper than any in the box stores so that of course is why I pretty much use Amazon for stuff like this. It came within one day with Prime as well. I tie it around a tree in the yard and double it up too because it’s long enough to do that and still give him room to play. It’s well made and I feel like we will get a decent amount of time out of this purchase. But I tie it always to his harness not a collar, I definitely recommend that. I also bring it inside when it’s not in use so it won’t rust but I did accidentally leave it outside and it wasn’t rusty at all. Anyway give it a try!

I have a labahound that weighs 60 pounds and plays rough. She is a strong dog. Have to put her on the 25’ cable to keep her from jumping on the grandkids. The cable is very strong and the hook up on both ends are very sturdy and easy to use. Just what I needed.

Got this for my pup so she can run in the front yard without my needing to hold the leash the entire time. I wasn’t sure how well a tie-out would work in general, so I went with the cheapest one I could find from a reputable brand. So far, it’s held up well through sun and rain, and I have no reason to question the strength (and she can pull pretty hard/ also likes chewing on it). I only wish the line was a bit thicker because it can be hard to get a grip on it without hurting my hand when she’s running around - especially when she gets tangled up in it. But this may be the case with every tie-out, so overall, I’m happy with my purchase!

Update: One year later (and now two years later) I am back buying another set. The coating is cracked and broken on the cables. Once the coating is damaged the metal cable will break, twist, etc. Seems to happen with every brand I have ever purchased. Guess no one has figured out how to build the better mousetrap here, just copy and sell the same thing. leaves me with who has best price as I replace every year due to breakage. Once cracked coating breaks down cable gets caught on everything including the deck boards. Crazy dog has done her part to wear them out. They have been set up and used all winter in temp to -20 with one end buried under snow for months. Lots of abuse with in the rain, snow, rocky terrain, etc. The dog even wades in the creek, wraps them around trees, etc. I purchased two and hooked them together. Works well for the crazy dog who runs and ends up wrapping around your ankles. The coating on the cable protects my ankles when I am unfortunate enough to get get caught in crazy dog's craziness. Dog is 10 yo and has finally slowed down but she still has her moments.

Need to occasionally tie out a dog with a higher than average prey drive. This is exactly what is needed to keep him from the various birds - chickens, ducks and turkeys. They will be safe, he will be safe from making a big mistake. But he’ll be able to drive off the mice, rats, snakes etc. that plague the entire population. Terrific product. Might need a second. If so I will order another one from this vendor.
