  • Beautiful set for the money
1st things first, kudos to the packaging engineer(s) and the packers of this set! I was a little concerned with how they would arrive honestly but once I opened the box I was very impressed! Everything is protected with cardboard cut to fit as well as cardboard dividers to keep everything held securely in place with little to no chance of one thing touching another. As for the set, it really is nice looking, at least as nice as the pictures show. I was curious about the handles because they look nice and comfortable in the pictures so I wondered if they would be as nice in person-and they are. Not solid metal but there is no seam and and no hole at the back so it appears solid. And for my hand it has a very nice contour. The handles appear solidly riveted and the glass lids are very nice with the actual handle on top and not just a knob. Being stainless steel it is obviously a very shiny and visually pleasing set and mine had no swirls or scratches that I saw. I really like that they are oven safe too (except for the lids) as I have a big saute pan the I really like and use frequently but it has plastic handles so I could never put it in the oven if I needed to. And while I love my cast iron, there have been some dishes that I could have used a bigger pan but was "stuck" making due with the cast iron because it was the only one that could go from stovetop to oven. And speaking of my beloved cast iron, I do like the lighter weight of stainless steel as well as the simple fact that it's easier to clean and care for. Once you get used to cast iron it's not that big of a deal to take care of (once it's well seasoned) but there is still more maintenance required to keep it up and in cleaning. With my stainless steel it's a quick wash and air dry, no need to make sure it's completely dried immediately after washing and re-oiling after drying and I never have to worry about my stainless rusting just from the humidity in summer when maybe there's a spot that didn't get fully oiled. I made some Cream of Wheat in the pot this morning and it did just fine although it did get some mild "scorching" on the bottom on one side (I make it with milk and electric stoves don't heat evenly) , it was easy enough to clean off. Some I got just by scraping with a rubber spatula and the rest came off with some soapy water and a Scrub Daddy, no real elbow grease required! I have an enamel finished cast iron pot that I typically used for this as well with the same problem. Despite my best effort to stir continually to avoid the scorching it just always happens. Cleanup is similar in the enamel BUT-it discolors some. The stainless steel is back to it's original shine after cleaning! They do cook differently too which can be beneficial, especially in summer, as stainless tends to heat up very quickly and cool down quicker. Finally, looking at some other stainless steel sets in comparison, the value for the money appears to be there with this set as well. I have other stainless steel pots/pans that I've used for years from cheaper/lower "quality" to better and they all have held up well so I expect this set should too. You don't have to spend a ton of money to get the "best" when this set has a good price point for a very useful set that can do most if not everything you need to do. Unless something changes like a handle getting loose or falling off or the bottom separating or something (I'll update my review if that does happen for sure), this is a 5 star set for me and I'm very happy to have it. ... show more

  • These Amazin Basics Hit the Mark in Quality
Yesterday I received this set of amazon basics set of 3 pots with two lids. As I was taking them out of the box, I just felt really pleased with them. They look wonderful. I have a few other stainless steel pots, but i've had them for many, many years. You could say they've been my faithful companions, and you can tell that by looking at them. They've stood the test of time, but you can see that they have been used often. I wasn't sure what to expect as far as quality but I was quite relieved that these pots and pans looked to me to be very well made. I couldn't wait to try them out. I used the saute pan last night to make a one pan taco skillet meal. For the most part I made it on top of my stove which is electric. The pot seem to heat evenly. As far as I could tell their didn't seem to be any cold spots. I really thought the handles would be hot but they were not nearly as hot as I iexpected. Normally I use nonstick pens and I don't use a lot of oil. I did use some oil in this skillet, but really no more than I do in my nonstick panscand thankfully I didn't have any problem with things sticking. I also used the sauce pan to cook broccoli. Both of the pots performed very well in my opinion. Although I didn't use the skillet last nightbut I know that the skillet is a pan that I will use often. I do wish that it had came with a lid, but i'm sixty one and have had quite a few pots and pans over the years. If I look in my cabinet, I probably have one, that will fit it. When the meal was over, I washed everything by hand. I had no trouble at all cleaning them. My favorite thing about the pots and pans were the large size of the saute pan and the skillet, and the weight of them. I wouldn't say that these were lightweight pants. But they weren't everly heavy either. I'm sixty one years old and have trouble walking. I can't stand without holding on to anything for more than a few seconds. When i'm cooking, I normally use a wheelchair just because it rolls around. And I can carry things back and forth when i'm in it.But it's an awkward position. When it comes to taking pots and pans out of the oven. It 's easier to stand up and do thwe n when ilI try tto do it from the wheelchair but the heavier what i'm taking out or putting in is, the more difficult it is for me. The fact that the pots weren't very heavy is a big advantage for me. Overall, I think this is a really nice set of pots. The quality is decent for the price. And it would make a nice set for someone just starting out But it would be equally as nice for most home cooks Overall, i'm just really pleased with the set. I would definitely recommend it, and if I needed any more pants, I think that I would consider purchasing more of these. ... show more

  • Quality
I ordered this Stainless-Steel Cookware Set that came with 5 pieces; A 10 in. frypan, 3 qt. saucepan with lid, and a 5 qt. sauté pan with lid. The listing states, "PROFESSIONAL-GRADE: Stainless steel cookware set made with heavy-gauge 18/8 steel and aluminum core bottoms for even heat distribution" and is suitable for all stovetops including induction. I especially liked the vented lids and the feel of quality that this set offers. I found that when cooking, there was even heat distribution and no cool or warm areas, which caused all of the food in the skillet to be even done. These really look sensational with enough weight to recognize the quality of the pans, but light enough that they were a joy to use. Maybe I'm just used to non-stick pans but after cooking hash and eggs in the skillet, it was difficult to clean, but after 5 minutes of soaking in hot water and some soap detergent, it was much easier to get it clean and shiny again. I also like that the pans can go right into the oven, up to 500 degrees, including the lids and are dishwasher safe, but the listing does state that for longer life, handwash in warm water and mild detergent. The instructions do say not to use metal cookware, which I presume would scratch the pans. For this much quality for such little money, these certainly are a good value. ... show more
